I took him up on this challenge and it was an epic social experiment! We also went around ordering in Indonesian restaurants in Elmhurst, Queens which has a large Indonesian population in New York City. I definitely do not actually speak fluently but I’m able to have a real conversation in Indonesian after just 15 hours of studying, which is pretty cool!

多年以前爸爸就喜欢带我来这里吃，多数是买了到后边的咖啡店吃，有时遇到咖啡店关了门，我们就唯有包回家吃。最近来这里我好像没有发现什么坐位，多数是来打包回家，现场吃的打包回家吃的滋味就是不一样，有时喜欢吃现场的感觉，有时却喜欢吃打包后米饭被咖哩浸泡入味的感觉。
让我印象最为深刻的除了这里美味的菜肴外，就是老老板讲的流利福建话。多年前再次和爸爸来到这里，档口了多了个小孩子，我想是华校生，能讲一口比他爸爸更厉害的华语。
前几年再次回来这里回味，档口已经换成老板的儿子在卖，当年的小孩子也长大成有胡须的青年，档口里的美食好像比当年摆得更满，种类更多,每次来买都是人多多围着，但每个人都很有耐心并有次序地等待着他的时候的到来，我呢就在想便便到底等下要点些什么，种类实在太多，眼花缭乱，重要的是很多都是我喜欢的，很难做决定。
或许有人会埋怨这里的饭越吃越贵，但这样新鲜并照着原来食谱煮法的美味菜肴，这样的收费我想是合理的。
这里喜欢的菜色实在太多，最最不会放过的当然是这里的招牌7号炸鸡腿，大大一支，老板简单用盐和香料腌制入味，带皮那样下油炸熟炸香，抓着一支吃就有够满足。和饭和咖哩一起包着，沾满咖哩的酱汁和美味更是另一翻风味。
原颗去皮的咖哩焖马铃薯，不切开大大一颗，在咖哩鸡里焖煮到内里熟透软绵，外形依然保持完整，但这时咖哩鸡的香甜辛辣已经渗透在里边，咬上一口，绝妙~！
大大颗切一半的圆圆茄子也是吸咖哩的好料，小时候并不会欣赏这个软绵绵的东西，但现在会欣赏他淡淡的香气，享受那咀那软绵在口腔里带来的满足感。
咖哩小虾肉，新鲜的剥壳小虾，和咖哩一起煮的香甜少许辛辣，肉质鲜甜好吃。新鲜的苏东，满满的蛋塞在里面，涨涨有够澎湃，咖哩入味有够香~！再来咖哩羊肉，这里也做的好出色，不腥不膻，肉质柔软不粘牙，咖哩汁香浓够味。三拜江鱼仔，肉厚不干材，辣椒香而不太辣，配饭最够味。辣椒豆干也做得好出色，炸好的豆干在辣椒汁里浸泡入味，好吃。
喜欢这里的白饭，正宗的扁担饭是用“倒水法”煮的，用水把米在锅里煮沸到要熟的时候，把水倒掉，再把盖子盖好焖熟。这样煮的饭比较干身，正适合用来配咖哩吃，和咖哩一起包着也不会泡到米饭烂烂，旧时的人就是那么有智慧。
