今天我到國家衛生研究院，關心武漢肺炎治療藥物的研發情況。目前，國衛院已經完成被視為極有可能對抗武漢肺炎最有效藥物瑞德西韋的合成，並確認了化學結構和純度。我相信，如果未來的疫情有需要，我們可以透過國際合作和自身能量，來對抗武漢肺炎。
當全國團結一致面對防疫挑戰的時刻，針對國民黨吳斯懷委員認為我挑釁中國，我只是基於真實的情況進行表述，也展現自我防衛的決心，這些是國家領導人應該要說的話。曾經做過軍人的吳斯懷委員，這時質疑總統講的話，我相信會讓很多國軍弟兄姊妹感到非常失望。
我們拒絕戰爭，但我們絕對不是弱者，我們不挑釁，但我們也不會卑躬屈膝，這就是我們基本的態度。
另外，國際上持續有很多主要國家，包括法國的議員，也都支持台灣參與WHO。我要表達感謝之意，也再次強調，台灣優秀的醫療制度和團隊，尤其我們有從SARS累積的豐富防疫經驗，能夠為世界帶來貢獻。
防疫不該有缺口，在武漢疫情的期間，更凸顯台灣加入WHO的重要性。人民的健康是最重要的事情，政治因素不該凌駕健康權利。
同樣的道理，把武漢的台灣人接回來的計畫，我們第二批的作業早就已經完成，名單給了，飛機也準備好了，相關的檢疫、防疫、醫療照顧的人員也都待命。接機的班機隨時可以出發，把我們的國人接回來。
我們對防疫風險的掌控，一直用最嚴謹的態度在面對，希望在我們已經完全準備好的情況下，中國政府可以配合，讓武漢的台灣人可以早日返台。
