T: When we want to ask the Chinese gods for guidance, we throw the bwei on the ground, and figure out divine will from how they land.
F: How can I interpret the will of the Chinese gods from them?
T: If they land on different sides, it’s a ‘sage poe’, and means that the attitude of the Chinese gods is positive. Two flat sides mean a ‘smiling poe’ – the Chinese gods don’t understand, don’t want to answer, or need more time to consider the question, and are are smiling with hidden meanings. Two rounded sides give you an ‘yin poe’, through which the Chinese gods express disapproval, anger, or prohibition.

外：那怎麼樣才能看出神明的意思呢？
台：一平一凸稱為「聖筊」，表神明持正面態度；兩平面為「笑筊」，表神明一笑、不解，或者還在考慮中；兩陰面則是「陰筊」，表示神明否定、憤怒，或者不宜行事。
