PM Lee: In the last ten years, we have written another chapter of the Singapore story.
We said we would build more beautiful homes that Singaporeans could afford, and we did (e.g., Punggol 21 and Dawson).
We said we would strengthen our safety nets, and we did. We introduced WorkFare, Silver Support and ComCare, built new hospitals, and made healthcare more accessible and affordable (CHAS, PG card, and MediShield Life).
We said we would create more pathways for our children to chase rainbows, and we did:
- NorthLight School (Official) and Assumption Pathway for students who failed their PSLE, because we believe in our young and we will never give up on them
- School of the Arts, Singapore, School of Science and Technology, Singapore to cater to varied talents
- First-class campuses for our Institute of Technical Education, Singapore
- New universities (SUTD Singapore University of Technology & Design, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), SIM University (UniSIM))
We said we would transform our city, and we did (Changi Airport Jewel, T4 & T5; Gardens by the Bay, beautiful parks connectors and ABC waterways like Bishan-AMK Park).
We said we would transform Marina Bay and we did. In 2005, Marina South was still empty. At my NDR that year, I promised you Marina Bay would be special by our Jubilee. Today in 2015, Marina Bay is entirely transformed.
We did this together. We had a vision, we believed in it, and together, we realised our dreams.
