“Nói về một quốc gia đứng vững giữa bao nhiêu làn sóng Covid-19, thì người ta sẽ nghĩ đến Úc, New Zealand, Đài Loan và Hàn Quốc, không mấy người nghĩ đến Việt Nam, một quốc gia với GDP đầu người chỉ hơn 2500 đô la, hơn 96 triệu dân, có đường biên giới dài 800km toàn rừng núi với Trung Quốc. Trong khi các quốc gia trên được ca ngợi và tung hô trên bình diện thế giới thì Việt Nam dường như ít được biết nhất. Chính phủ Việt Nam đã thực thi những biện pháp phòng dịch hiệu quả, ấn tượng và trật tự. Họ tạo ra được sự đoàn kết trong nội bộ quốc gia từ lịch sử”.
"Có phải là may mắn cho người dân Việt Nam không, khi họ sở hữu một chính quyền chống dịch tốt đến như vậy? Bất chấp những ý kiến cho rằng chính quyền Việt Nam độc tài, toàn trị hoặc có những cáo buộc gian lận về số liệu?"
Trích từ “Coronavirus Politics: The Comparative Politics and Policy of COVID-19”, một trong những cuốn sách phân tích chính trị tốt nhất về đại dịch Covid-19, được biên tập bởi đội ngũ hơn 20 giáo sư, cố vấn và chuyên gia chính trị, chính sách kinh tế, dịch vụ công của các trường đại học nổi tiếng như Michigan, Pennsylvania, Edinburgh, Harvard…
Theo thống kê của WHO và Liên Hợp Quốc, trong số các quốc gia có mức GDP đầu người dưới 3000 đô la, Việt Nam là quốc gia viện trợ quốc tế nhiều thứ 2 trong đại dịch tính từ đầu năm 2020 đến nay - sau Ấn Độ. Trong khi các quốc gia có mức thu nhập tương tự thường “nhận” nhiều hơn là “cho” đi, thì Chính phủ Việt Nam dường như đang thông qua đại dịch, muốn chứng minh cho thế giới thấy rằng Việt Nam đang sinh tồn mạnh mẽ như thế nào.
Cuốn sách trên dẫn nguồn từ World Bank, cho biết, Chính phủ Việt Nam dành khoảng 6% GDP mỗi năm để chi trả cho các dịch vụ y tế công, bảo hiểm y tế. Được biết, hơn 87% người Việt Nam có thẻ bảo hiểm y tế, gần 100% người Việt Nam thuộc các đối tượng dân tộc thiểu số, người có hoàn cảnh khó khăn có bảo hiểm y tế. Chính phủ Việt Nam cũng khuyến khích phát triển y tế tư nhân nhằm phục vụ cho những người giàu có. Trong tất cả các quốc gia có thu nhập bình quân đầu người dưới 4000 USD, không có quốc gia nào triển khai được hệ thống y tế công tốt như ở Việt Nam.
Dĩ nhiên là với những học giả phương Tây, dù nói tốt, thì Việt Nam vẫn bị gán mác là “độc tài”. Nhưng trong cuốn sách, sự “độc tài” đã không còn mang một màu sắc tiêu cực, sự thành công của Việt Nam phải đối diện trước một thách thức minh bạch. Nhưng người Việt đã biến thách thức ấy thành cơ hội “tẩy trắng” trước truyền thông phương Tây, đến từ việc minh bạch các thông tin về từng ca nhiễm trên hầu hết những phương tiện mà họ có: báo điện tử, radio, mạng xã hội, SMS…
Những chuyên gia của cuốn sách nhấn mạnh rằng, nếu là một người trong chuyên ngành về phòng chống dịch bệnh, có lẽ sẽ không xa lạ với những thành tích của Việt Nam trong ngành này. Những người Việt Nam đã chiến đấu chống lại căn bệnh thế kỷ HIV/AIDS, bệnh phong, bệnh sởi, bênh sốt xuất huyết, bệnh cảm cúm, dịch tả, H5N1, H1N1… Thế giới dường như không biết đến những điều đó, để rồi khi một lần nữa, Việt Nam kiên cường chống lại Covid-19, họ mới bất ngờ và tìm hiểu thêm về quốc gia này.
Eric Feigl-Ding, một trong những nhà nghiên cứu y tế công cộng nổi tiếng nhất nước Mỹ, cựu giảng viên Harvard và Johns Hopkins cho biết trên Twitter cá nhân vào ngày 07/05, khi mà làn sóng thứ tư tại Việt Nam đã bắt đầu được hơn 10 ngày: “Tỷ lệ tử vong do Covid-19 của thế giới là 89/100.000, còn Việt Nam có tỷ lệ tử vong vào khoảng 0,1/100.000” - là quốc gia có tỷ lệ tử vong thấp nhất thế giới với các quốc gia có dân số trên 10 triệu người”. Eric Feigl-Ding cũng từng đăng đàn khuyến nghị rằng, các quốc gia khác trên thế giới, dù giàu hay nghèo, dù ở phương Tây, châu Phi, cũng đều có thể học cách chống dịch như Việt Nam. Hầu hết các quốc gia khác đều có cơ hội học Việt Nam, nhưng họ nói không.
Ngày 06/04, khi Úc và New Zealand chính thức thông quan biên giới giữa 2 quốc gia mà không cần kiểm dịch, chuyên gia này cho biết: “Họ là những hòn đảo, họ dễ dàng thực hiện chiến dịch Zero Covid, Việt Nam không phải là một hòn đảo, Việt Nam cũng đang Zero Covid. Vấn đề là ở lãnh đạo!” - chuyên gia này cho biết thêm.
Michael Hurley, chuyên gia dịch tễ, ủy viên thường trực Công đoàn Canada, viết về Việt Nam: “Việt Nam có tối thiểu 30 ngày nghỉ ốm có lương và không cho phép người lao động mắc bệnh Covid-19 làm việc và lây nhiễm cho người khác. Trong số 91 triệu dân của Việt Nam, đã có 35 người rơi vào tay của Covid-19 trong khi dân số của Ontario là 15 triệu người, và 8039 người chết vì Covid-19”.
Báo chí quốc tế đưa tin nhiều về làn sóng thứ tư tại Việt Nam, đặc biệt là về đợt dịch tại Bắc Ninh và Bắc Giang, hai tỉnh có tổng giá trị sản xuất công nghiệp hàng năm lên tới rơi vào khoảng 100 tỷ đô la. Câu hỏi đặt ra, liệu Việt Nam sẽ đối diện với Covid-19 tại đây như thế nào?
Tờ Nikkei Asia cho biết, đội ngũ y tế có kinh nghiệm chống dịch từ Quảng Ninh, Hải Dương… đã đến hỗ trợ Bắc Ninh và Bắc Giang. Về phía quân đội, toàn bộ Quân đoàn 2 và một phần của Quân khu 1 được điều động cho công tác phòng dịch, Việt Nam đã hoàn thành 2 bệnh viện dã chiến có quy mô khoảng 1200 giường bệnh trong vòng chưa đầy 24 giờ đồng hồ. Tờ này nói về Thái Lan và Campuchia, khi các quốc gia này xây nhà xác và lò thiêu, thì Việt Nam xây bệnh viện.
“Làn sóng thứ tư có quy mô lớn hơn so với các lần trước, nhưng một tín hiệu đáng mừng, là Việt Nam đã “quây” thành công những ổ lây nhiễm lớn nhất, việc bây giờ là xét nghiệm, chữa bệnh và quay trở lại sản xuất” - The Guardian.
Làn sóng thứ tư lần này có quy mô lớn hơn cả ba làn sóng trước đó, nhưng Việt Nam tiếp cận với làn sóng thứ tư này cũng ở một vị thế khác. Dễ thấy nhất, là việc lập bệnh viện dã chiến nhanh hơn, triển khai xét nghiệm quy mô lớn cũng nhanh hơn, điều động nhân sự y tế cũng nhanh hơn... Nhưng đôi khi chính vì việc đó, khiến người Việt chủ quan và buông thõng.
Ngày 06/04, chuyên gia Eric Feigl-Ding bình luận về sự kiện Úc và New Zealand nối lại việc di chuyển giữa hai quốc gia mà không cần kiểm dịch: "Đừng quên Việt Nam, họ không phải là một hòn đảo...".

Jessie Chung is an international recording artist and actress based in Australia, currently under the management of Future Entertainment & Music Group. She is the only Malaysian artist who has stormed foreign charts, including the prestigious Taiwan 5 Music International Chart, and the I Radio Top Hits Chart. True to her multitalented status, she is also a doctor of medicine in oncology, naturopathic doctor (US), certified nutritional consultant (US), homeopathic doctor, certified iridologist, biotech researcher, accomplished entrepreneur, author, martial arts coach, and philanthropist from Malaysia. Besides holding a doctor of medicine degree (M.D.) in Clinical Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine—Oncology from Guangzhou University of TCM, China, she also possesses a MBA from The University of South Australia and a BSc. in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Oriental Medical Institute, Hawaii, USA. In recent years, she was the only naturopathic oncologist selected as one of the Hummingbird Cancer Centre leading members to head their natural therapy department.
Her passion for music was evident at a young age as she racked up numerous singing competition awards. In junior high school, Jessie was the only youth representative in the entire district selected to sing at the National Day Celebration. She is known for her ebullient and enigmatic concert performances in countries all around the world, including the United States, Canada, China, Taiwan, and Malaysia. With experience in dozens of concerts in five different languages, Jessie yielded huge responses from fans around the world during her 2015 Love Unity Concert, leaving barely any space in the arena. Building on her success from the previous year, she proceeded to perform in the Jessie Chung Exquisite Chinese Orchestra Concert in 2016, selling out all ten performances. Besides touring and performing in concerts, she has also starred in several stage plays, tackling lead roles in Malaysia, Singapore and Canada. Her recent stage production Moonlight was also well received by the visual arts community, and the organizer has brought Moonlight to numerous locations around the country.
By now, she has released six Chinese albums and two English albums. Her single Love in You was selected as the theme song for the Korean TV series My Secret Garden in Taiwan, whereas her album of the same name topped Malaysia’s aiFM Top Hits Chart, staying at number 1 for many consecutive weeks. In China, her album Loving You charted among the top 10. Her recent album Tearless Sky rose to 4th place on the I Radio Top Hits Chart and 6th place on the Pop Radio Top Ten Music Chart just within two weeks of initial release in Taiwan. The album was well received by the public and has received appraisal from music journalists. She has appeared on numerous TV shows in Taiwan, and her album was strongly recommended by the TV hosts of the programmes, one of them being Kevin Tsai (Cai Kang Yong), in his legendary TV show Kangsi Coming. Exhibiting a strong presence on TV shows, Jessie has recently been invited to host TV shows in both China and Australia.
Besides, she authored Stay Away from Cancer, Stay Away from Diseases, and the Jessie Diary series, informing the world with her medical experiences while also giving them a peek into her soul. As an accomplished martial arts practitioner, Jessie has successfully achieved the 5th Duan of Chinese Wushu Duanwei; she is also a certified Wushu coach, referee, and instructor. She has won a total of 12 gold medals and 5 silver medals in various international Wushu competitions.
Jessie has been honoured with countless awards received from various ministers of Malaysia for her achievements, particularly two awards from the prime ministers of Malaysia.

Jessie Chung is an international recording artist and actress based in Australia, currently under the management of Future Entertainment & Music Group. She is the only Malaysian artist who has stormed foreign charts, including the prestigious Taiwan 5 Music International Chart, and the I Radio Top Hits Chart. True to her multitalented status, she is also a doctor of medicine in oncology, naturopathic doctor (US), certified nutritional consultant (US), homeopathic doctor, certified iridologist, biotech researcher, accomplished entrepreneur, author, martial arts coach, and philanthropist from Malaysia. Besides holding a doctor of medicine degree (M.D.) in Clinical Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine—Oncology from Guangzhou University of TCM, China, she also possesses a MBA from The University of South Australia and a BSc. in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Oriental Medical Institute, Hawaii, USA. In recent years, she was the only naturopathic oncologist selected as one of the Hummingbird Cancer Centre leading members to head their natural therapy department.
Her passion for music was evident at a young age as she racked up numerous singing competition awards. In junior high school, Jessie was the only youth representative in the entire district selected to sing at the National Day Celebration. She then proceeded to perform on many TV programmes in subsequent years. Her high school years in Canada was highlighted by her participation in an international talent contest held by TVB, and she successfully entered into the finals at the ripe age of sixteen. Besides singing, Jessie also has a gift for musical instruments, passing grade 8 organ at a young age with distinction, under the examination of Japanese auditors.
After her studies, she devoted herself into the entertainment industry and charity; so far, she has released eight albums and starred in three feature films. In 2013, she took on lead actress in the Chinese film Faces and Malaysian film Unchanging Love. She also appeared in the 2014 film Kungfu Taboo.
She is known for her ebullient and enigmatic concert performances in countries all around the world, including the United States, Canada, China, Taiwan, and Malaysia. With experience in dozens of concerts in five different languages, Jessie yielded huge responses from fans around the world during her 2015 Love Unity Concert, leaving barely any space in the arena. Building on her success from the previous year, she proceeded to perform in the Jessie Chung Exquisite Chinese Orchestra Concert in 2016, selling out all ten performances. Besides touring and performing in concerts, she has also starred in several stage plays, tackling lead roles in Malaysia, Singapore and Canada. Her recent stage production Moonlight was also well received by the visual arts community, and the organizer has brought Moonlight to numerous locations around the country.
By now, she has released six Chinese albums and two English albums. Her single Love in You was selected as the theme song for the Korean TV series My Secret Garden in Taiwan, whereas her album of the same name topped Malaysia’s aiFM Top Hits Chart, staying at number 1 for many consecutive weeks. In China, her album Loving You charted among the top 10. Her recent album Tearless Sky rose to 4th place on the I Radio Top Hits Chart and 6th place on the Pop Radio Top Ten Music Chart just within two weeks of initial release in Taiwan. The album was well received by the public and has received appraisal from music journalists. She has appeared on numerous TV shows in Taiwan, and her album was strongly recommended by the TV hosts of the programmes, one of them being Kevin Tsai (Cai Kang Yong), in his legendary TV show Kangsi Coming.
