Had some 饭 reading this informative article on the history of the ubiquitous rice cooker, and how a Japanese woman had the biggest influence in its development. It’s a good read, especially after the recent BBC Food video that went viral because of the host’s unconventional method of preparing the rice for the egg fried rice recipe. I’m sure many of us do this differently!

Countless Asian families rely on the rice cooker, but there are many ways to cook rice. Whether it’s nasi goreng or 炒饭, or even rice dishes like biryani and chicken rice, I’m happy to have a smorgasbord of choices in Singapore that everyone can enjoy. 女王授勛名單看國家氣度

英國政府公布2020年女皇壽辰授勛名單（Birthday Honours 2020），整個名單其實係由首相Boris Johnson提出比事頭婆確認，正如Boris Johnson所講今年係要表揚疫情下為國家人民作出貢獻嘅人士。

當中就包括咗曼聯球星Marcus Rashford，將會得到MBE勛銜，原因唔係因為佢踢波勁，反而係公開鬧醒首相，挑戰政府為全國貧窮學生嘅午餐支援，最後迫到首相尷尬U-Turn。

話說六月嘅時候，英國政府準備解封，而學校就黎放暑假，宣布暫停提供貧窮學生嘅午餐支助。點知Marcus Rashford知道之後即時响網上鬧政府，然後再出公開信比國會所有議員，要求繼續提供午餐支援。接受訪問嘅時候話，自己細個都窮過，知道肚餓嘅感覺，如果政府唔U-Turn就發起籌款。

結果首相兩日後跪低道歉公布繼續支援，而Marcus Rashford就成功籌集兩千萬鎊幫助受疫情影響嘅貧窮學生。

當日提出正確嘅問題，迫到首相同政府跪低嘅人，反而得到今日首相提名受勛，呢個就係一個正常（唔洗好出色，只係有常理）嘅政府或者領袖應該有嘅氣度。

A first for the BBC Good Food Show, Chef Norman Musa and his restaurant Ning brought Malaysia Kitchen by MATRADE to the UK's biggest food show at Birmingham's NEC, November 2011. Supported by Wing Yip, we hosted a pop-up grocery of Malaysian products for sale, while local restaurants Oriental Bar and Sri Banana Leaf provided free sampling of delicious Malaysian food. Malaysian start-up Ai Bakehouse also showcased their amazing cakes. Chef Norman was live on the Luce by Hotpoint and Magimix chef stages. Making Malaysian food known to the masses in the UK!

2011 was a fantastic year for Ning restaurant and its chef Norman Musa. More than ever before, we served customers delicious Malaysian food in our restaurant and at pop-up food stalls, and promoted, demonstrated and taught Malaysian cooking around the UK, Ireland & Malaysia. We got to see some places, meet many friendly and enthusiastic people, and Chef Norman featured on MasterChef and other shows, hosted his first TV series, BBC Good Food Show (Birmingham), Taste of Dublin and in Trafalgar Square among many others.
