從台北到綠島，美國人在台灣留下了不少建築足跡。你也許不知道，台灣有些重要地標可是由美國人所建造的喔！
很多遊客到綠島都喜歡浮淺見識美麗的海底世界，但島上有一座地標也非常值得探訪。位於綠島西北角的燈塔不僅是島上的地標，同時也是美台友誼的象徵。1937年12月，美國豪華郵輪胡佛總統號在綠島附近的海域觸礁，綠島居民熱心出動，將所有船員和乘客全數營救上岸。為感謝他們的見義勇為，美國人透過美國紅十字會捐款，在島上蓋了一座燈塔。如果你有機會到(或重遊)綠島，別忘了去看看這座友誼之塔。歡迎您與我們分享您到綠島旅遊的照片！如果有與這座燈塔的合照更好，我們將隨機選出5位幸運的朋友贈送小禮物！ (本活動截止日期為4月14日晚上10點)

From Taipei to Green Island, Americans have left their architectural footprints in Taiwan. You might be surprised that some of the important landmarks in Taiwan were actually built by Americans!
Many tourists visit Green Island to see things “under the sea,” but there is one landmark standing tall on the island that is also worth visiting. Located on the northwest corner of the island, the lighthouse is not only a landmark of the island but also a symbol of the longstanding friendship between the Americans and the people of Taiwan. In December 1937, an American ocean liner SS President Hoover ran aground off the shore of Green island. All passengers and crew members survived and were safely brought ashore by local residents on the island. As a token of their appreciation, members of the U.S. public gave money through the American Red Cross for a lighthouse to be built on the island. If you are going to (or revisiting) the Green Island, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this tower of friendship.
