常看湯瑪士小火車 Thomas & Friends 的小朋友或家長，也許對 19 季以來的 Sodor小島（台譯：多多島）鐵路網及火車群都不陌生了，來看這部《湯瑪士小火車之多多島迷失寶藏》Legend of the Lost Treasure 一定處處都是可以會心一笑的劇迷梗；而對於從沒看過湯馬士的小朋友或家長來說，本片其實完全沒有在講 Sodor小島老班底們的故事，只有 Thomas 一個人是主角面對新的冒險和試煉，一樣毫無壁壘就能看懂更能享受！
本片由 Thomas 當主角，由 Sodor小島原班人馬小火車們客串，各個在極短戲份中生動地賣萌：睜大眼睛穩重工作的 Rocky、二話不說熱心幫忙的 Emily、喜歡敲邊鼓的綠色 Percy、自戀的紅色 James、不太瞧得起別人的 Gordon 、膽小的 Henry、喜歡和湯瑪士比賽的 Berty 、喜歡彼此抬槓的 Duck, Donald & Douglas、修車廠可靠穩重的 Victor 與做事少根筋的 Kevin、港邊老氣橫秋的 Cranky & Salty 、當然還有常常責怪小火車們辦事不力但其實很慈祥的「胖總管」The Fat Controler。

以上都是老劇迷只要看一兩秒就能眼睛一亮會心一笑的小花邊，而這次新推出的配角群有三組：
1. Ryan ，紫色的蒸汽火車，要來暫代 Thomas 開原有載客支線，也暫代他和老奶奶搭檔 Annie & Clarabel 合作，讓 Thomas 去開鐵路新支線，因此全片都讓 Thomas 緊張兮兮地當作要來「取代」的敵人，看見 Ryan 工作表現良好更是興起自卑感。號稱由影帝 Eddie Redmayne 配音，不過我在信義威秀看的都是中文配音，聽不到。（有人知道台灣哪裡有英語原聲版嗎？）
2. Marion ，有點花痴的小女生，是輛可挖土推土的卡車，這次負責興建鐵路新支線，還有一群幫忙開山路的工程車群包括 Alfie, Jack & Oliver 都是她的新夥伴（湯瑪士小火車故事裡的女性角色不多，不過個個都很重要，在工作上的表現與男生小火車向來分庭抗禮）；她的老夥伴們則是在採石場一起工作的迷你火車 Rex, Mike & Bert ，這回 Thomas 不如意時就在他們身上找到溫暖，還一起唱唱跳跳兩首歌曲。
3. 最後是有兩個神祕的外來客，夜間在鐵路上乘風疾駛的小帆船 Skiff，以及他的壞水手 Sailor John，壞水手是想來找寶藏，一路上還會欺負小帆船。（小帆船 Skiff的名字應該是混合德文與北歐多語的「船」Schiff/Skib/Skepp/Skip）
故事大體還算簡單：在 Sodor 小島新的一天，熱情暴衝的 Thomas 又闖禍了，被胖總管發配邊疆去開闢島上的新鐵路支線，自己原來引以為傲的乘客線被新對手 Ryan 取代；而到了新鐵路支線工地又不安於室，不小心跌到洞裡發現了隱藏的海盜船，不過他只被罵不小心，找到寶藏的功勞都被算給別人了，很嘔。
其實以上都只是 Thomas 自己既過度熱心又有點自卑的心態作祟，譬如自以為的「發配邊疆」其實是被委以重大任務；譬如自己的假想敵 Ryan 其實對 Thomas 很友善也很想交朋友；譬如找到寶藏其實也沒有誰被特別誇獎只是 Thomas 會自己放大覺得自己被冷落罷了。反正，Thomas 就是一整個陷入低潮，在心情低潮脆弱的時後，正準備受到空前的誘惑：寶藏。
原來其實那艘海盜船裡，藏有片名的「失落寶藏」The Lost Treasure，這由碼頭上愛講鬼故事的柴油火車 Salty 生動地道來，不過寶藏在哪裡？還沒人知道。乘著帆船 Skiff 來到 Sodor 小島的壞水手 Sailor John，就是要來尋寶的，他先找到了失意的 Thomas，舌燦蓮花地灌點迷湯、伸出友誼之手，企圖靠發現海盜船的 Thomas 幫他找到寶藏的蛛絲馬跡。
剛好最近很失意又沒有朋友（其實是自己把朋友拒於門外，數十年如一日）的 Thomas 欣然同意合作，就在一個個夜晚到晨曦時分偷偷帶著他們到處去尋寶，在晨曦前把他們送回碼頭回到海上，本片也因此描繪了很多 Sodor 小島晨曦時分火紅天空的海濱美景！
不過尋寶何錯之有呢？這也是本片可能賦予的教育訊息：壞水手表現出各種「自私」的性格，包括他對待可憐的帆船 Skiff 就是當工具來利用，不聽話就處罰，和 Thomas 與小火車們的總管 The Fat Controler 截然不同；而自私性格面對寶藏時，就有一種「寶藏是我的」的心態，像全球許多打撈沉船的尋寶者一樣，抱持著誰找到誰就擁有的戰利品心態，而不想想：這些寶藏也都是幾百年前海盜搜刮來的，幾百年後無法物歸原主也就罷了，誰找到了就想據為己有，這樣合乎倫理嗎？
（事實上大人世界的水下考古也有這樣的辯論，這種兒童電影只需把最簡單的核心問題點出來，就已經很有教育意義，而且「拾金不昧」的原則遠遠不止於水下考古專業而已。）
另外一線，一直在工地熱情搞笑的傻大姊工程車 Marion，她從去年「多多島的勇敢傳說」才初次登場，這次靠喜劇戲份幾乎已經快超過 Thomas 了！不過傻人有傻福，毫無執著的 Marion 才能莫名其妙找到寶藏，由 Thomas 上繳胖總管，準備捐給 Sodor 小島博物館展示。誰知執著的壞水手仍不擇手段，就算偷也要從胖總館辦公室保險箱裡把寶藏偷出來，還硬扯著不願為虎作悵的小帆船 Skiff 與 Thomas 展開又一段破曉大追逐，最後，在貪念席捲下，寶藏還是掉回了大海裡，貪心的壞水手只是徒勞。
最終，寶藏只是 Sodor 小島的身外之物，小島尤其是小火車們最切身相關的真實議題還是新支線鐵路，終於心無旁騖興建完成！在最後與壞水手追逐戰時素來沒有好感的 Ryan 也來幫助 Thomas、在追到水裡差點沉沒時好朋友們也都前來救他了、一身狼狽回到車站時胖總管也為他的勇敢豎起大拇指。Thomas 心情七上八下的一天，終究塵埃落定，只要單純認真做對的事情，他還是 Sodor 小島的 No.1 蒸汽火車！
湯瑪士小火車，我想本版應該除了當爸媽的版友外都不會注意到吧？不過我還是要在此推薦，湯瑪士小火車不論是系列卡通還是故事書，都寓教於樂數十年不變（圖畫書從 1945 推出、卡通從 1984 推出），甚至角色與故事還可以一直推陳出新！如果你和你家小朋友早就是粉絲，那當然要來看；如果你們本來對湯馬士小火車並不熟，也可以來看看畫工與場景設計都比卡通和故事書精緻一大截的本片，試著欣賞它寓教於樂所傳遞給小朋友的簡單訊息，也許你們家也會開始愛上湯瑪士！
