At Dior, tradition and continuity are as important as invention and innovation, and for the Autumn-Winter 2018-2019 collection Maria Grazia Chiuri sought the expertise of the family-run embroidery atelier Maison Hurel which reworked archival samples from the early 20th century on a sheer black dress. Blue, in a panoply of hues, proves a key color for Spring 2021 on.dior.com/menspring21 by Kim Jones as well as a means of highlighting this men's collection's exceptional savoir-faire. The iconic 'Dior Oblique' motif has been reinvented in glossy jacquard weaves, as a 'Tapestry' wool embroidery on the 'Rider' backpack, and meticulously traced out in tonal cross stitch on a shirt. Meanwhile, vintage logotypes and 1960s scarf prints from the archives are reworked and adapted for graphic impact, and the innovative new Dior Oblique 'Galaxy' technique laser-perforates leather to lustrous effect on 'Mini Saddle' and 'Motion' bags.
Discover the 'Dioramour' capsule from Autumn-Winter 2021-2022 by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Redolent with surrealistic 'Alice in Wonderland' symbolism drawn from the collection's fairy-tale inspirations, hearts, 'D-Chess' and 'D-Royaume d'Amour' motifs decorate a range of ready-to-wear like motorcycle jackets, t-shirts and sweaters, and accessories such as bucket hats, scarves and 'D-Way' slides. Iconic House bags including the 'Lady Dior' and Mini 'Dior Book Tote' also get a makeover, while a white 'Dior Caro' has its 'CD' twist clasp and chain turn red, and its Cannage quilting reworked with heart motifs.
