This man is the same man who chose to stay on by my side when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, stage 3, more than 3 years ago.
Things weren't easy for the both of us at that time. We were just 6 months in the relationship.
There were so many objections, rejections, and discriminations that shoot directly to us. At that point of time, all I can see was human's true colour of selfishness - egoism - insensitiveness, they share no mercy nor compassion. It was also the day when I realized how other's opinions would not matter me anymore and I should just focus on what's really in mine, ours.
We asked ourselves, if one of us die tomorrow, will other's opinion matters? Will we still push one another away or will we embrace each others in our arms till the last moment? Will we still do our best for one another to buy as much time as we can get?
We ended up hugging each other and cried like a baby that night and hold hands throughout our sleep. It was the most unforgettable moments we ever had. The feeling of losing someone you love. And the feeling of leaving someone you love. They're all extremely heartbreaking. (And I hate it everytime when I recall back those moments, I will choke on my tears.. 😭)
Thank you for staying. And I meant it from the bottom of my heart. To other fighters out there, I just want you to know that my cancer journey vs my relationship was not any bed of roses. It came with many unexpected obstacles from unexpected parties. But we made it out. Not because we are lucky. But because we choose to ignore whatever that are not worth our time and attention. We create our own happiness. Along the way, we discarded many useless and hopeless people. Because that's exactly how a quality life should be. Keep only the right ones. Quality people are certainly better than quantity.
