為什麼要活得如此「瘋狂」?
Why live a life that’s perceived as mad?
Before I started hiking and being a photographer, I worked in a coffee shop for 6 years. Every day I met a lot of customers and I heard all their different life stories. Sometimes their stories made me wonder about what my own life should be like. Deep down I knew there was something not quite right. A disconnect.
I went for my first ever hike in 2010. I joined my friends on the long journey up Sunset Peak at night, and waited for the sunrise. Something in me stirred that day. From then, I went hiking everywhere in Hong Kong, visiting all the country parks and mountains. I was impressed by the beautiful nature and scenery which I never knew existed or believed was possible in a city like Hong Kong.
I quit my job in 2012 and told myself that I would only do what I love for the rest of my life. So I started spending all my time in the mountains. When alone in nature, I would lie down on the rocks and watch the starry sky and think about our way of living and the relationship between human and nature. I realised the way I had previously been living was actually the “mad” kind of living, so out of touch with nature.
During my time in the mountains, I saw so many spectacular sceneries. I started to capture them to share with my friends. It really is my favourite thing to do, to tell others my journey through my photos.
To take the best photos, the weather is the most important concern. I used to go to the same peak dozens of times to shoot the sea of clouds. It was foggy most of the time. But what made me keep trying is that I simply enjoy the process. Sometimes, I don’t take that final “perfect” picture, because I like to feel the moment instead.
And I think that life should be the same. It should not be considered an achievement. I believe we should all be motivated by the process, and enjoy the journey. Is that madness? I don’t think so. I think it’s the best way to capture the true beauty of life.

We agree with @sesat_in_malaysia on the cheapest hiking shoes. You can never go wrong with ‘Adidas kampung’. If you are not familiar with it, it’s rubber shoes, 100% waterproof, super practical and low maintenance. 😄

📍 Bohey Dulang Island, Semporna
Islands + Hills = Bohey Dulang 😍
Hands down one of the most picturesque view in Sabah!
If you plan on hiking Bohey Dulang Island in the future, make sure you check the weather foreast beforehand. Because, if the rained the day before or on the day of your visit to the island, you won't be able to hike to the viewpoint.
On top of that, be sure to bring your own shoes for the hike as only shoes that cover your feet completely are permitted. Hiking sandals are in grey area though. My go-to shoe for this kind of terrain is definitely the legendary 'adidas kampung'. Bcuz it meets the criteria, easy to clean, perform well w seawater & very cheap.

There's different way to reach Mount Huang shan , I took the cable car at 黄山南门 ( RMB 80 per way , entrance ticket to Mount Huang Shan is RMB230 ) then I hike up to the peak ( 光明顶) within 2 hours .
The scenery is beautiful! The hiking road is wide and clean . Worth to visit .
Travel tips to Mountain Huangshan:-
✔️bring enough cash as they only accept union pay not visa , master or American Express
✔️start the journey early in the morning around 8-9am if u only have half day or a day . Last cable car service at 530pm .
✔️If time allowed , spend a night at either one of the hotel at the mountain which u can enjoy the sunset and sunrise.

Against better judgment and all possible safety regulations, I once again got tricked into checking out an extremely dangerous mountain hike in Taiwan. This time it was New Taipei City's Sanxia Wu Liao Jian (五寮尖).
Although I do NOT recommend anyone to actually check out this hike, I recommend EVERYONE to check out this video and the drone footage in the end which shows the insane climb down after spending around 2 hours climbing up the mountain using nothing but ropes, blood, sweat and tears.
Please share this video with everyone you think should check out the beautiful nature of Taiwan, and please let me know what you think we should check out next!

Join us on our weekly hike to Kaohsiung's Monkey Mountain - Chai Shan! This video explains how to climb Kaohsiung's Monkey Mountain, Monkey Mountain trailhead location and how to get there, what you will need to bring and even where you can have a delicious traditional Chinese breakfast after your climb.
Don't forget to subscribe for more Taiwan fun!
There are two main trailheads to climb Monkey Mountain: Shou Shan (near the zoo) and Chai Shan (further north). I prefer Chai Shan, and I'll show you here how to climb yourself!
Time: 1.5 - 3 hour round trip (depending on climbing speed and how many photos you take!)
Bring: Water, bug repellent, walking shoes, comfortable clothing
Optional: sweat towel (May to October), bandaids
Do not bring: food of any kind, plastic bags or wrappers (or the monkeys will be attracted to you - please note food is prohibited on the mountain for this reason)
Getting there
- Public transport: use google maps transit directions for bus routes (navigate to the 7-11 at the link below). Please note these often do not run before 7 am.
- Walking: the trailhead is about a half hour walk from Aozidi MRT station.
- Taxi/Uber: Show one of the addresses below to your driver (I recommend asking him to take you to the 7 Eleven as it's a major landmark and walking from there). The fare from Aozhidi MRT station (taxi rank at exit 2) is approximately nt120.
- Public bicycle
---City bike: You can use your credit card to rent these, but you keep paying until they are returned to a station. The closest station is at this 7 Eleven, a 10 minute walk from the mountain.
--- O-bike: Download the o-bike app to find an available bike. Once you arrive at the mountain, you can leave the bike there and it will likely still be there for you to re-rent when you come back down (and there are often extra available O-bikes at the trailhead or nearby).

If Kuan Lai Shun is closed on the day you visit, the dumplings at the restaurant next door are good - or go down the alley behind Kuan Lai Shun and into the traditional market for a few more options.

After two weekends on the scooters in both Pingxi and Tainan, Francois and I decided to stay closer to home and decided to check out Xianjiyan hike. Little did we know that we would end up at the most magical park in Taipei: Muzha Park!
