Was saddened to learn of the passing of Mr Seah Chin Heng earlier this week.
Mr Seah was one of the People's Action Party’s pioneers. He joined the PAP in 1959, when Mr Lee Kuan Yew had just become Prime Minister. During elections Mr Seah drove lorries for the founding PAP candidates, and later on for Mr Low Seow Chay and Mr Yeo Cheow Tong.
He was an active and dedicated volunteer for the Party throughout his life, taking on other duties and roles over the past 61 years. Residents in Choa Chu Kang and Yew Tee remember him fondly as a school bus driver. The Party recognised his contributions with a gold medal in 1995, and a dedicated service medal in 2011.
For the last two years, he had been confined to a wheelchair. Nevertheless, he insisted on voting in the recent general elections.
Mr Seah personified the PAP’s mission to serve the people of Singapore. My deepest condolences to his family on his passing. – LHL
