This pre-war building could be demolished in the near future. 190 Nathan Road 彌敦道190號 was listed as a Grade 3 historic building in 2018 by the Antiquities Advisory Board. According to a letter issued by the Buildings department, the demolition of the building has been approved recently, which means, it is about time to say goodbye to this 84 year-old building.

This stair will bring you to the hundred year-old Public Toilet. How is it like inside? Sorry, I can’t go in 🥲
To improve hygiene and better protect public health, 13 public toilets were built in Hong Kong in the colonial era from 1901 to 1942. Six of them were underground. Most of them are for males only as women in the past mostly stayed at home and take care of children and the household chores instead.
The one you see in the photos is the only underground public toilet still in service, built in 1913, situated at the Junction of Wellington Street and Queen's Road Central, Central.
