【林昶佐入聯演講，於台灣外交酒會@紐約】
Ladies and gentlemen, good evening, I am Taiwanese Parliamentarian Freddy Lim, a member of the Foreign and National Defense Committee, and vice president of the Taiwan-USA Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association. As the UN General Assembly is in session, I am here with Taiwan’s NGOs that are campaigning for Taiwan’s UN membership, hoping to deliver the voices of the Taiwanese public to the international community, increase exchanges, and set a firm ground for future cooperations.
In the past 20 years, I’ve been a rock singer and an active participant in Taiwan’s social movement. The rising calls for change among the public in Taiwan finally got unconventional politicians and younger generation into the parliament in January. Our New Power Party, which was founded only one year, became the third largest party in the Taiwanese parliament. The new will of the people also includes the strong desire to equally and normally participate in the international community. The Taiwanese feel disrespected, for example, when Taiwan’s national team could only take part in the Olympics under the name “Chinese Taipei”, and we seek to rectify the situation one day.
After World War II, the Allies placed Taiwan under trusteeship of the Chiang Kai-shek regime, which was later defeated by the Chinese Communist Party in the Chinese Civil War, and went into exile in Taiwan where it started its authoritarian rule. In 1971, Chiang’s regime was expelled from the UN, and the seat it once held was replaced by the Communist China. Chiang and his followers stayed on in Taiwan, and the Taiwanese finally put an end to the authoritarian regime after decades of struggle.
Nowadays, Taiwan has a directly elected president and completed rotation of power in the parliament. The authoritarian regime of Chiang Kai-shek did not represent the people of Taiwan, and now Communist China has no right to represent democratic Taiwan either.
Taiwan is still being excluded from the UN, but the people long for Taiwan’s international participation as a normal country. As an elected representative of the people, I’ve always kept that aspiration in mind. The Taiwanese people have fought for half a century to get rid of an authoritarian regime sent by the Allies and became a democracy. In our struggle, we’ve receive much unselfish help from our friends around the world. We hope that our friends around the world would understand that, the people of Taiwan should have equal rights as every other country, and continue to support our efforts to become a reliabe and friendly partner of you as a UN member.
Last but not least, now it’s time when people in many Asian countries celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival and having family reunions. I would like to wish that peace and happiness may be up on you, your families and friends. Hopefully, one day, Taiwan would gather with all other member states in the UN, work closely for a better world. Thank you again for attending the reception.
各位先生、女士，大家好，我是台灣的國會議員林昶佐，立法院外交國防委員會的一員，也是台美國會議員聯誼會(Taiwan-USA Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association)的台灣副會長。現在正值聯合國開議，我與推動台灣入聯的民間團體一起來訪美國，希望讓國際社會更了解台灣社會當今的民意，與各位增進交流、奠定未來更踏實的合作基礎。
過去廿年我來身為搖滾歌手，也參與台灣的社會運動。這幾年台灣要求改變的民意高漲，終於在今年一月把許多非傳統的政治人物、年輕世代推進了國會。我們剛成立一年多的新政黨NPP，成為國會的第三大黨，受到人民的高度關注。新民意進入國會的聲音，也包括了台灣人民渴望能平等正常地參與國際社會的強烈意志。正如剛結束的奧運，台灣只能以「中華台北」的矮化名稱出賽，讓人民深感不受尊重，這是我們期盼有朝一日可以扭轉的困局。
二戰結束後，同盟國把台灣交給中國的蔣介石政權託管，未料蔣政權在中國的內戰被共產黨擊潰，只能流亡至台灣進行獨裁統治。其後，1971年，蔣政權被逐出聯合國，其席次被共產中國取代，但蔣政權與其黨羽仍留在台灣。經過數十年的奮鬥，台灣人民終於結束了其獨裁統治。
現在的台灣，有人民直選的總統，更完成了國會政黨輪替。當年的獨裁蔣政權未能代表台灣人民，現在的共產中國也無權代表民主台灣。
台灣面對國際困境，仍被排除在聯合國之外，但人民渴望台灣能以正常國家的身份參與國際社會，身為台灣民選的民意代表，我無時無刻不放在心上。台灣人民超過半世紀的努力，用生命追求自由平等與人權，更獲得許多國際的朋友無私的幫助，終於掙脫被同盟國派來的獨裁政權枷鎖，成為了一個民主國家。期盼國際上的朋友們理解並繼續支持我們，台灣人民應該擁有和其他國家同等的地位，以聯合國會員國的身份，成為各位可靠並且友善的國際夥伴！
最後，現在正值許多亞洲國家慶祝中秋節、親友團圓的時刻，在此祝福各位與親友都平安快樂，也希望有天台灣跟所有國家一起在聯合國裡面團聚，緊密合作，為美好的世界一起努力。再次感謝各位來參加今天的酒會！

真的進步好多，跳舞這方面果然只要努力就會改變

老實講，雖然她的舞蹈沒有到讓人感嘆的程度，
但是很會用表情，編舞有點尷尬的部分她跳起來也不會那麼尷尬，表現得很好
