I had a light but hearty lunch at this bright and cute little café the other day, catching up with Linda @Yellow Sweets (Instagram @hinalys). The Green Eggs and Feta in pan is the green version of their famous Shakshuka, filled with soft spinach leaves and dressed with pine seeds and feta cheese. I chose the Congee Bowl as I did crave some Asian comfort food. And it surprisingly turned out to be what we both loved most that day. The tender spice of ginger and corianders have brought me home. The slice of lime gave a fresh boost. Although the pancakes did not really meet our expectations, but we did enjoy a good time there.
Spring in Paris always comes slow, but it's almost there, at least on our table ☘️🌿.
巴黎的春天時陰時晴、乍暖還寒。陽光有時只是溫柔的騙局,但巴黎人多半願甘心地領受。
我和好友Linda趁著陽光露臉的空檔,在Café Mericourt(Café Oberkampf的姐妹店)享用午餐。菜單上的每一樣其實都很吸引人,但我那天的胃特別想念熱熱的亞洲食物,所以挑了有蘑菇、青蔥和太陽蛋的熱粥。Congee在巴黎咖啡店是很chic的食物,但我只是想從連日的忙亂疲累中得到一些撫慰。本來沒有太多期待,但它意外地美妙,掌握得恰到好處的鹹味,搭配我熟悉的薑、青蔥與芫荽的香氣,雖然選用的是類似risotto的圓米,口感較為粗獷,但整體而言很細緻地傳達了亞洲風的溫柔細膩。
Linda選的Green Eggs and Feta是在平底鍋中放了柔軟的菠菜、洋蔥,再加上松子、feta cheese等提味,大概是因為灑了一些檸檬汁,有點清爽的酸味。盤中新鮮的香草與綠色調讓整個餐桌充滿了春天的氣息。
餐後的鬆餅因為醬汁的甜度與水果的酸不太協調、再加上我們沒有非常喜歡搭配的ricotta cheese,所以較為遜色,不過我們仍然度過一段很愉快的用餐時光。
Café Mericourt在地鐵九號線St. Ambroise站附近安靜的小巷中。據說週末也是人潮洶湧,但平日還是能享受片刻寧靜。

Didn't I say that I have so many talented pastry chef friends? The two chefs of Jouons Ensemble Pâtisserie, Pia and Debbie, are of no exception. I visited them and their cute pastry shop about two weeks ago and had a really great time catching up and enjoying their creative pastries made of local ingredients and playful ideas. If you can't keep up, ride your own pace. If you see pavement changes and know the limit of your tire, don't worry about catching up, just slow down. The KLR rider wasn't really speeding, but the tires and pavement changes got the best of him.
