Just the other day, we were talking to my in-laws who informed us that due to Ah Ma's passing, we will not be giving out or receiving ang pows for this side of the family.

I saw the big girl listening to our conversation with dismay and soon, tears started to well up in her eyes. Afterwards, I asked her why she was feeling sad and if it was because she knew she would have very little ang pows this year.

It was then I remembered she had asked me for two empty red packets and said she had a surprise for us. Yup, you see, these two ang pows were from her to us and she was crying because she was so afraid that she wouldn't have the chance to give them. This was the very first time she has done so, using the savings from her pocket money that she accummulated over time. Sure, it wasn't a lot to boast about but it was the thought that touched me deeply. 物轻情意重，有心最重要，因为心是无价的。

She might make me worry and nag at her almost every day, but she is also the one who is the most sensible, who shows her love for us in the little ways, who doesn't ask me to buy her things when we go out, who rejected my offer to give her an extra $2 every month to go to the school bookshop, who takes food for me and puts it on my plate, who tries to eat less so I can eat more, who is often misunderstood by us but we have never, and will never, doubt her love for this family.

Thank you, my dear Angel, we had a tough night but today will be a better day, okay? 谢谢你这么体贴，这么为我们着想，这么疼爱❤爸爸妈妈。

I love you so, so much too.

我家四宝。All mine to love and to hold. At least, until they are all grown up. ❤

No one ever said parenting is easy. I knew right from the start that this year would be a challenging one - PSLE for the eldest, having to care for a newborn, handling a clingy boy who is newly promoted to Korkor, dealing w a soon-to-be tween, all while having to solo parent most of the time in the midst of a pandemic.

Yup, some friends called me brave to have a fourth kid at this stage, some said I must be mad, or maybe it's just a combination of the two. 其实，这应该算是我的福气才对。❤ Many told me to get help of some form to make my hectic life easier, then I told them I do have help - from the hubby on weekends and my older kids on weekdays.

Nope, it's not like the kids are always wonderfully behaved nor do they always take the initiative, but they have all stepped up to help out in the house and with the baby - I'd like to think I trained them well over the years - and before we know it, we're just three months away from the end of the year. For that, I'm truly grateful.

It's my 12th year as a stay-at-home mum yet I feel like I still have so much to learn and to improve on. On some days, I sound like a broken record, my fuse is shorter and my patience is cut down. I can blame it on stress, on cabin fever or many other things but like I said in my "Happiness is..." blog post, it's okay to not be okay at times. "We might have lost the battle today but we live to fight another day and tomorrow, we're gonna be victorious."

Mums are humans after all. So am I and so are you. And we are gonna be all right because we are not alone in this journey.

Happy Hump Day, everyone. I call this post 有感而发 and it's not because I had a tough day (most of our days are normal with a mix of both good and bad parts) but because I just wanted to pen my random thoughts. 3 more weeks till the end of PSLE, to all parents who are in the same boat, let's jia you and 向前迈进 together! ❤

We had a rough weekend as one of our hamsters passed away and the girls and I ended up huddling and crying together.

I wasn't really looking forward to the start of the week and was feeling exhausted, at the same time bracing myself to be ready for more tantrums and whines than usual since we were all feeling so down.

It turned out that these girls are more sensible and mature than I think they are. This afternoon, we all took a nap and the girls woke up earlier than the baby brother and I. Not only did they not wake me up (which is already something to be thankful for), they also decided to get down to work and surprise me. Together, they packed the living room, wiped the floor, tidied their study tables, even folded the laundry which was on the sofa and kept their own clothes into their wardrobes. After all that was done, they even sat down to do a handmade card which says for the most wonderful Mum in the world. Seriously, I could have cried all over again. What have I done to deserve them, to deserve all this goodness in my life? These kids make this emo mama even more emo in such moments.

It also touched me to read how my firstborn said it comforted her when I hugged her knowing that her beloved pet was gone. I didn't realise she needed me so much and that having me there beside her meant a great deal to her heart. It just reminds me that a very small, loving gesture from a parent can mean the world to a child. So, let's all not forget to show our love even if in the tiniest of ways. Because at the end of day, they do make a huge difference. Thank you, my dear girls, for making this Monday a day to remember.
