When I was in Ghana for the @pencilsofpromise field trip, I had a fellow mummy ask me “Since you travel for work frequently, how do you deal with the mum guilt?”. This is actually quite a common question I get asked a lot. It breaks my heart because I can relate so hard. I used to feel tremendous mum guilt, not anymore and even when I do, I know to snap myself out of it quick. Especially as a mother to a son and a daughter, I will not accept the narrative that there is only one way to be a mother, woman or human being. Motherhood is hard enough as it is without us adding unnecessary pressure in ourselves. We should just focus that we are doing the best for our family. If you’re a stay at home mum, I commend you. If you’re a working mum, I commend you. If you breastfeed, I commend you. If you bottle feed, I commend you. If you managed to brush your teeth or change out of your pjs, I commend you. Regardless what you decide for yourself or your family, let’s build each other up through support and love. If you are overwhelmed today and feeling defeated, think of all the stuff you nailed in your list. You have come so far. Kick mum guilt in the crotch and instead, feel proud for what you are. #motherhood #mumguilt #nah #bubzvlogz #selflove #girlpower #lindytsang #youdoyou #
