Yamaha DT1 於1968年3月發售，它是日本第一部歐式越野車 off-road ，
1965年的 Kawasaki B8M 不算嗎？
恐怕不算， 它是從1963 Kawasaki 125 B8 自廠改裝而來，雖然贏得比賽，造成越野風潮，但終究不夠純正，
DT1 的界定有點複雜，它是以 Trial 為名上市的，可是 Trial 詞意在70年代慢慢演化成《技術車》，就是俗稱的《慢車》，
以 DT1 問世的年份1968年，日本還沒有《技術車》的概念，
DT1 絕對比《街爬車》Scrambler 俗稱《史昆伯》更特化，
Scrambler 另有人翻成《道路登山兩用車》，但 DT1與公路車的關係比較遠，
至於 off-road 被翻成《越野車》，但越野摩托車現在有特定指涉叫 Motocross ，大約在60年代慢慢從 Trial 演化而來，
所以無論是 Trial 《技術車》與 off-road 《越野車》好像都不適切，DT1 或許可以賦與比較廣義的詞彙《山車》，
要讓車性越野化，第一步便是輕量化，DT1 憑藉優異車架設計達成目標，
當車子可以輕鬆騰越離地而起，接下來觸地則是另一個故事，
早期普通避震器衝程不足，容易觸底反彈，只要車子反彈，人就被拋飛，
所以車子觸地，輪胎需要抓住地面，所以 DT1 前避震設計了氣邦，重著地時，空氣擠出，緩衝彈簧反彈，
所以牽它走動時，拉前煞，會有七七出出的氣音，
DT1 承載非常多榮耀，古今各界都予以極高評價，
它是日本山車的起點，Yamaha 不妥協的越野魂！
