因為先前在某篇推文有說到我目前就讀於德國的商學院

陸續有接到一些版友來信詢問

想說最近剛好接近德國的申請季節

來分享一下比較常被問到的問題


個人背景

NTUBA GPA3.4

兩年半外商行政經驗

GMAT 680 IELTS 7.5 Toefl 97

Admission

WHU : Master in Management

University of Rochester : Marketing Analytics

Rejection

Washington University in St. Louis.: MS in Customer Analytics


最後選擇到WHU的原因單純因為費用考量

雖然WHU是私立學校 以德國人的角度很貴

但相較起英美的學費來說還是比較平易近人

22800€/兩年 VS 美國 $57590/一年

而德國的生活費比起Rochester所在的紐約來說

便宜不少

學校這邊的房租已德國來說已經算高價的 單人套房大概450歐

生活費的部分如果是自己煮飯的話 大概跟在台北生活差不多


學校簡介

我念的學校全名是WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management

是間私立的商學院 →意思就是需要學費 (德國的公立學校是免學費的 包含國際學生)

當初知道這間學校完全是因為Financial Times Ranking

在master in management的排名中

2013→3 2014→4 2015→8

沒錯就是排名一直往下掉的意思

學校的解釋是外籍學生跟女性的比例不夠高的影響

學校的成立時間不長(1984)

但在德國的知名度算上升的很快 只是出了德國就...

據說學校裡大部分的同學都有同時拿到Mannheim的offer

可是還是選擇WHU


校區的部分有兩個

MBA在Düsseldorf

MS & Bachelor在Vallendar

Vallendar是個位在萊茵河畔的小鎮

風景很優美 走好山好水好無聊的路線

學校附近有四間不同等級的超市

所以購買日常生活用品不是問題

但要逛街買衣服就沒辦法 這裡連DM都沒有...


附近最大的城市是Koblenz →但據德國人的說法也是個無聊的地方

學校沒有提供semester ticket

對德國的學生來說 學期票是個很重要的福利

一個學期大概一百多歐可以無限次的搭成邦內的公車地鐵等等

不過有聽說慕尼黑的學校是完全沒有學期票

搭公車到Koblenz單程需要3.X 有bahncard是2.75歐


學制介紹

學校的MS分成Master in Management以及 Master in Finance

兩個各在細分為120 & 90 credit track

差別在於前者多了一個學期的交換

而這四種選項雖然在申請的時候需要先挑一個

但進來之後有一個禮拜左右的時間可以申請內轉

例如進來後覺得finance的課太無聊 可以轉到management

或者是突然間不想要去交換了 也可以轉成90 track


一個學期分成兩個quarters

各自選課及考試

也就是每兩個月就要結束一輪的選課、上課&考試


MiM的課程分成六個領域 每個領域需要至少選擇一門課

Economics,Accounting, Entrepreneurship & Innovation,

Marketing & Sales, Strategy, Supply Chain Management

畢業門檻為11門課 最多可以修到13門

GPA的計算方式是挑選最高的11門 所以如果成績不好的可以多修兩門替換


成績的計算是強制使用常態分布

依照教授送出去的原始成績跑分布

最高拿到1.0 最低4.0

5.0就是當掉 還會有兩次補考的機會

如果兩次補考都沒有過的話 直接退學

而且之後不可以在德國念其他同樣名稱的MS


第一年的暑假需要去企業實習

學校的career center會不定期舉辦career day

也會協助修改CV & Cover letter
