Do you remember any significant moments in U.S.-Taiwan security cooperation in recent years? You may remember that two years ago, Taiwan officially commissioned two U.S. Perry-class Frigates into active service in the Taiwan Navy. This sale is consistent with United States commitments under the Taiwan Relations Act to provide military articles that support Taiwan’s self-defense. This is also an important part of the Indo-Pacific strategy that aims to secure political stability, military balance, and economic progress in the Indo-Pacific region. The entry into service of these two frigates will improve Taiwan's capability in current and future defensive efforts and furthers Taiwan’s continuing work to modernize its armed forces.
