Like all of us, I was shocked by yesterday’s tragic incident at River Valley High School. We cannot make sense of what happened. Words fail us because we cannot understand.

We are overwhelmed imagining what the victim’s family are going through. Yesterday morning, they sent off their 13-year-old son to school. Suddenly, without any warning, he is no more.

My heart goes out to his family. I know we cannot properly express our sympathy, or offer much comfort in their sudden calamity. But still, I would like them to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them.

The teachers and students of RVHS are also in shock. We will help you walk through this dark valley, and come to terms with what has happened.

The police are still investigating this case, to find out the motivations behind this tragedy, and if something could have been done to avert it. Let us wait for them to complete their work. Let us not worsen the trauma and grief of the affected families with speculation and rumour.

We place great emphasis on safety in our schools, and the well-being of teachers and students. Our education system is not only about good academic performance, but also helping our kids to grow into happy and well-adjusted persons. If staff or students know a pupil or classmate who seems troubled or under stress, please let the principal or school counsellors know. They will work together with the families to provide help.

Beyond our schools, the pandemic has been tough on everyone. If sometimes things seem too much to bear, please remember help is always available, even if it’s just to talk to someone about what’s on your mind:

USE THE JOHOR PUBLIC COMPLAINT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

One of the reasons I am active on social media is to help me interract with the people without any protocol. I am glad that I have the opportunity to influence the people with positive values regarding Johor and from time to time, remind the people of the importance of us being together in ensuring Johor keeps moving forward.

I am also aware of the complaints brought forward to me through social media accounts, ranging from various aspects such as housing issues, welfare aid, education or even infrastructure. Insya-Allah I will do my best to help anyone in need.

Apart from that, I also want to urge all parties to use the public complaint platform that is provided by the state government to help address complaints from the people of Johor. This platform is a good initiative to improve the efficiency of the Johor public sector.

Swipe to see some of the biggest recorded great white sharks ever caught by fishing vessels and fishing nets in the world, and these were all in Taiwan. Roughly 100 million sharks are caught and killed a year globally. For only 23 million people on the island, Taiwan is ranked top 4 in the world for the amount of sharks killed per year. This is tragic.

Through Empire Aqua I want to bring more awareness and education on the importance of saving and protecting Sharks in the ocean, in particular Taiwan. Taiwan is a beautiful island and has extraordinary marine life around it, and not many people know this. Sharks are an essential and integral part of the entire marine eco system. Without them, there will be an unbalance and bring degradation to marine life. In 2020 Taiwan passed laws protecting Great White Sharks and a few other rare shark breeds. It’s a good start, but there’s still too many loopholes in these laws, and tons of sharks are still being slaughtered daily. I want to do something about this, and I want to find the right way with the right balance without stepping on too many toes. I know this will be a controversial journey, but I think the younger generation needs to be more aware and needs to be educated on the state of the marine life and how it affects the planet and each one of us. This is our responsibility now and the younger generation is the future.

He was named rookie of the year in 1997, and on more than one occasion, he was an All NBA First Team, NBA All Star, was an All Star MVP, and received perhaps what was his crowning achievement to date when he was NBA MVP in 2001. That year, Iverson led his team to the NBA finals, but had a rough ride against Kobe Bryant and 'Shaquille ONeal's Lakers. They lost the championship in game five of the series. It was still quite an achievement because the Sixers had not been to the finals since Dr. J (Julius Erving) and Moses Malone led them to victory over the Lakers in 1983 in a 4-0 sweep. Iverson has over 20 tattoos. Each tattoo is a symbol of his life. One denotes the name of his group of friends he has known since childhood, Cru Thik, another who says the answer, another who is dedicated to his mom who is a strong presence as Sixers games, and many others. He married his high school sweetheart Tawanna Turner and they have two children.
