Breaking through the Limit
Who I was...
I got in an accident and the motorcycle caught on fire.
I got a third degree burn on 70% of my body and my heart even stopped beating once.
The fire burned and ruined my young 13-year-old face.
I went into a coma for two months.
I woke up to see that I had only one limb left, my right hand.
Eleven years have passed.
With only one hand, I play guitar, play with perler beads, cook, and write.
With my metal (prosthetic) legs, I have run marathons and climbed to the top of Taiwan's 3,886-meter Snow Mountain.
Who I am...
I have become a speaker on life education and am running my own perler bead business
I have received the "Global Life Fighter" award from the President of Taiwan.
I am financially independent, passionate about life, and in fervent pursuit of my dreams.
I am looking forward to the great future ahead of me.
I can do all things through the One who gives me strength.
My name is Yajing Chuan.
I look forward to further sharing my life story with you and hope you will come along with me in experiencing life's miracles.

My gift for this new year celebration is my new body and the better health. Two months before I was at 100 Kgs and that made my life completely chaos since I could not even bend down to tie a shoelace. Then I have realized that this is not right and I need to do something with it. So I started working out, diet and treat myself better. So let’s give yourself good gift by taking care of your health.
two months 在 Facebook 八卦
20 years ago today, I arrived in Taiwan, expecting to stay here for 6 months…. It was also right when the World Trade Center was attacked. Needless to say, a lot has happened since then.
At 21 years old, I came to Taiwan to intern at the hospital and fire department, working as an EMT and getting ready for medical school. My dream was to work as a doctor with Doctors without Borders.
Just before I was to leave Taiwan, somebody asked me if I would be interested in auditioning for an underwear commercial. I thought “Oooh this could be fun!” and simultaneously, “I think I’m being scammed.” Turns out, it was the beginning of a very interesting new career as a travel show host, actor, professional violinist, writer, producer and motivational speaker.
20 years in Taiwan - I’ve gone from working the first aid station at the red carpet to now, this year, nominated for Best Supporting Actress and walking the red carpet. I met my many (on and off screen) husbands George, 黃尚禾,and 王識賢 and hopefully more (真可惜不是都是真真的老公哈哈) here. I started a family of two boys with one of them. 😂😂 @instageorgey
Over the past 20 years, I have met countless people who have influenced me, inspired me and supported me. I have taken thousands of photos with people I’ve met along the way - if you have taken a photo with me, please share with me here!!! Post it, tag me, tell me about this photo, where it was taken, what happened when we took that photo, etc. I want to relive some of these awesome memories and moments of my time here so far!
THANK YOU and to many many many more years, experiences and friendships!

- The salon is NALU Hair Salon in Omotesando and yes, they have employees who speak English!
http://www.nalu-style.com/contact.aspx?c=9
I did Japanese permanent hair straightening, aka thermal reconditioning, in mid-September. How it works is:
Your hair shaft has two types of bonds that contribute to its shape. Hydrogen bonds, and disulphide bonds. Hydrogen bonds change your hair shape temporarily and can be affected by moisture and heat, hence frizzy hair on humid days and curling or straightening with flat irons. Disulphide bonds are very strong and maintain a permanent shape, unless you break them apart with chemicals.
Japanese permanent hair straightening uses a chemical to break apart those bonds. The stylist then straightens the hair with an iron, setting the shape you what your hair to maintain, and then reseals the bonds with another chemical, permanently locking your hair into that new shape.
This salon in particular also adds a treatment to the hair before resealing it to keep it as moisturized, soft, and silky as possible.
You're not supposed to do it if your hair has been dyed a lot since it can damage the hair, so not everyone is able to get this type of straight perm. Before this I had only ever done one salon treatment, never colored my hair, and very rarely even straightened or blow dried it. But my frizz was crazy! I've had exactly zero issues with frizz in the two months since getting the straight perm.
You can also choose levels of how straight you want your hair to be. Since I have bangs I wanted those to look more natural rather than be perfectly straight, so they didn't apply the full strength treatment there.
I am still able to do some temporary hair curling (via those hydrogen bonds), although it really doesn't stay for any significant length of time at all. If I let me hair dry in a braid it will still come out a bit wavy, but not as wavy as before, and it doesn't last as long. And since I do tuck my hair behind my ears almost all the time, the little wispy hair there now retains that behind-the-ear curl shape.
If you're curious about the chemistry behind how this works, here are some links explaining it more in depth!

Shayla and her twin brother, Thomas, were adopted at 6 months old by a family from Calgary who relocated to Trinidad for work. Meanwhile, two older sisters were adopted previously and still live in the Toronto area. Due to unfortunate circumstances, difficult situations, and past struggles with the law, Shayla’s birth parents lost custody shortly after they were born. Shayla always knew her birth parents’ full names and used Facebook to find her birth mother and followed her throughout the years. Just a few months ago, Shayla’s adoptive mom noticed a girl on her birth mother’s page that resembled Shayla a lot. Eventually, when Shayla was able to reach her older sister Seleena, she was also able to reach her oldest sister, Samantha. And with these connections, finally Shayla found her father, a former Vietnamese boat refugee who immigrated to Canada by himself.
