Helo, popular social media apps in India
And the most widely known popular app right now is TikTok

So what is TikTok?

TikTok is a platform for users to watch and publish mobile videos.
Creative short video from anyone and anywhere in the world
And there are exotic features to create works such as music, lip sync, filter, effects.

The beginning of TikTok must go back to 2016
ByteDance has launched an application for publishing a short video on mobile phone in China named Douyin.

Douyin got a great response in China
Within a few months, the application download has risen more than 100 million times.
And more than 1,000 million video views per day

When things are like this, Zhang Yiming, founder ByteDance, thought to make this application known and world famous.

So it's the same application as Douyin that opens outsiders China to use.
This application is called ′′ TikTok ′′

After only two years of debut
In 2018, TikTok reached 800 million applications downloads.

With fun features for many short video creations.
Make not only the average person get in.

TikTok is also widely popular in celebrities and famous people.
Both abroad and celebrities in Thailand
This phenomenon is magnetic. It attracts more people to use TikTok.

If it goes to target
ByteDance will earn in 2020 total 874,000 million baht.

When things are like this, it makes ByteDance the mother's company of TikTok.
Estimated value to around 4.6 trillion baht.

How much is this worth?
Let's compare to PTT. The largest company in the Stock Exchange of Thailand

Market value of PTT company. Public Company Limited is equal to 1.1 trillion Baht.
ByteDance estimates equivalent to 4.6 trillion baht.

I will see that investors value ByteDance higher than PTT. Up to 4 times

What is this story telling?

This story shows us how to create value for a company or what it does.
It doesn't have to live with lots of resources or take long.

The point is, we need to find the hidden value in the simple things of everyone's daily life.
As TikTok knows, people like to watch short videos and want space to publish their own containers.

I can't believe this simple idea.
Going back to meet the needs of people around the world and it's worth a lot.
So much so that we didn't think that apps like this would be worth losing to big companies in other industries..

แต่ด้วยประชากร 27 ล้านคน
มุมไบและปริมณฑล จึงเป็นเขตเมืองที่ใหญ่ที่สุดของอินเดีย
พ่วงด้วยตำแหน่งศูนย์กลางเศรษฐกิจ
เป็นที่ตั้งของตลาดหลักทรัพย์ สำนักงานใหญ่ของธนาคาร และบริษัทอสังหาริมทรัพย์
และศูนย์กลางภาพยนตร์ที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลกตะวันออกอย่าง Bollywood

ตลอด 10 ปีที่ผ่านมา เศรษฐกิจของอินเดียเติบโตเฉลี่ยปีละ 7%
โดยมีมุมไบเป็นหัวรถจักรที่สำคัญ

แต่ในวันนี้ หัวรถจักรสำคัญที่สุดถูกหยุดชะงัก
ซึ่งคาดว่าจะส่งผลให้เศรษฐกิจอินเดียมีอัตราเติบโตเหลือเพียง 1-2% ในปีนี้

รู้หรือไม่ว่า เมืองแห่งนี้ ไม่ได้มีชื่อแรกว่า มุมไบ

แรกเริ่มเดิมที บริเวณแถบนี้ประกอบไปด้วยเกาะเล็กๆ 7 แห่ง
ตั้งอยู่ริมทะเลอาหรับ ชายฝั่งตะวันตกของอินเดีย

เมื่อชาวโปรตุเกสหาเส้นทางเดินเรือมายังอินเดียได้สำเร็จ
และกลายเป็นผู้บุกเบิกเส้นทางค้าเครื่องเทศกับโลกตะวันออก
มีการตั้งเมืองสถานีการค้าเล็กๆ ขึ้นในบริเวณนี้ ในปี ค.ศ. 1534
พร้อมเรียกว่า บอมบาเอีย (Bom Bahia) ซึ่งแปลว่า อ่าวที่ดี

แต่ถึงแม้จะเป็นอ่าวที่ดี บอมบาเอียก็ไม่ใช่เมืองท่าที่สำคัญของโปรตุเกสในอินเดีย
เมื่อเทียบกับเมืองอื่นๆทางตอนใต้

ต่อมาเมืองแห่งนี้ได้กลายเป็นสินสอดระหว่างเจ้าหญิงโปรตุเกส
กับพระเจ้าชาลส์ที่ 2 แห่งอังกฤษ อังกฤษจึงได้ครอบครองเมืองในปี ค.ศ. 1661
พร้อมเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น “บอมเบย์”

เพราะความไม่สำคัญ
พระเจ้าชาลส์ที่ 2 จึงทรงยกเมืองบอมเบย์ให้บริษัทอินเดียตะวันออกของอังกฤษ เช่าเป็นสถานีการค้า ในราคาเพียงปีละ 10 ปอนด์

ต่อมาเมื่อประธานบริษัทเดินทางมาถึงบอมเบย์
กลับได้พบว่า เมืองแห่งนี้มีทำเลที่ดี เหมาะแก่การเป็นท่าเรือน้ำลึก
จึงได้พยายามพัฒนาท่าเรือบอมเบย์
สร้างป้อมปราการ ถมเกาะทั้ง 7 ให้เป็นเกาะแห่งเดียว และออกนโยบายให้เสรีภาพทางศาสนาเพื่อดึงดูดผู้อพยพมาจากทั่วอินเดีย

แล้วบอมเบย์ก็เจริญก้าวหน้า ตามการเติบโตของบริษัทอินเดียตะวันออกของอังกฤษ

จนเมื่ออังกฤษได้ครอบครองอินเดียทั้งหมด บอมเบย์ก็กลายเป็นศูนย์กลางการค้า
รถไฟสายแรกของอินเดียเริ่มสร้างขึ้นที่นี่
ก็ยิ่งดึงดูดพ่อค้า ช่างฝีมือ จากทั่วอินเดียให้เข้ามาตั้งรกราก
หนึ่งในนั้นคือชาวปาร์ซี ซึ่งเป็นต้นตระกูลทาทา

หลังจากได้รับเอกราชจากอังกฤษ บอมเบย์ก็ยังคงเป็นเมืองท่าที่สำคัญของอินเดีย
เป็นเมืองหลวงของรัฐมหาราษฏระ และเป็นศูนย์กลางธุรกิจการเงิน

ภายหลังในปี ค.ศ. 1995 ได้มีการเปลี่ยนชื่อเมืองเป็น “มุมไบ”
ซึ่งเป็นชื่อเทพเจ้ามุมบาเทวี เทพธิดาแห่งสายน้ำที่ชาวเมืองนับถือ
ส่วนหนึ่งก็เพื่อต่อต้านชื่อเดิมเมื่อครั้งเป็นอาณานิคมอังกฤษ

แต่ถึงอย่างนั้น เมืองมุมไบนอกร่มเงาของอังกฤษก็ยังคงเติบโตอย่างต่อเนื่อง..

ปัจจุบัน ท่าเรือมุมไบขนส่งสินค้ามากที่สุดในอินเดีย
มุมไบเป็นที่ตั้งของตลาดหลักทรัพย์
เป็นที่ตั้งสำนักงานใหญ่ของธนาคารที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในอินเดีย
State Bank of India ซึ่งมีสินทรัพย์กว่า 17 ล้านล้านบาท

เป็นที่ตั้งสำนักงานใหญ่ของ Tata Group ของตระกูลทาทา
ที่ดำเนินหลายธุรกิจ ทั้งยานยนต์ เหล็ก และอสังหาริมทรัพย์

และเป็นที่ตั้งสำนักงานใหญ่ของ Reliance Industries
ของมหาเศรษฐีที่รวยที่สุดในเอเชีย มูเกช อัมบานี
ที่ดำเนินธุรกิจทั้งพลังงาน ค้าปลีก และโทรคมนาคม

มุมไบยังเป็นศูนย์รวมของธุรกิจภาพยนตร์ของอินเดีย หรือที่รู้จักกันในชื่อ Bollywood
ซึ่ง B มาจากชื่อเดิมของมุมไบ คือ บอมเบย์
Bollywood จึงหมายถึง Hollywood แห่งเมืองบอมเบย์
ในปี 2019 อุตสาหกรรมภาพยนตร์ Bollywood สร้างรายได้กว่า 76,000 ล้านบาท

ด้วยภาคบริการที่หลากหลาย ขนาดเศรษฐกิจของมุมไบในปี 2019 จึงสูงถึง 5.3 ล้านล้านบาท
หรือคิดเป็น 6% ของ GDP ประเทศอินเดีย

เมื่อหารจำนวนประชากร 27 ล้านคน จะทำให้มี GDP ต่อหัวอยู่ที่ราว 196,000 บาท ต่อคนต่อปี
สูงเป็น 3 เท่าของ GDP ต่อหัวชาวอินเดีย

ความคึกคักทางเศรษฐกิจ ทำให้มุมไบยังคงดึงดูดผู้คนจากทั่วอินเดียให้อพยพเข้ามาทำมาหากิน แต่ด้วยความที่เขตเมืองแห่งนี้มีพื้นที่เพียง 603 ตารางกิโลเมตร ราคาอสังหาริมทรัพย์ในมุมไบจึงสูงที่สุดในอินเดีย

ราคาที่อยู่อาศัยที่เกินเอื้อมนี้ ผลักดันให้ผู้คนราว 1 ใน 3 ของเมือง ต้องอาศัยอยู่ในสลัม

สลัมธาราวี (Dharavi) ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ใจกลางเมืองมุมไบ เป็นหนึ่งในสลัมที่ใหญ่ที่สุดของทวีปเอเชีย
พื้นที่ของสลัมแห่งนี้คือ 2.2 ตารางกิโลเมตร
ประมาณครึ่งหนึ่งของพื้นที่เขตบางรัก ย่านใจกลางเมืองของกรุงเทพฯ

แต่มีประชากรอาศัยอยู่เกือบ 1,000,000 คน
มากกว่าประชากรในเขตบางรักเกือบ 20 เท่า

เท่ากับว่า มีผู้คนแออัดยัดเยียดกันถึง 450,000 คน ต่อ 1 ตารางกิโลเมตร

ด้วยความหนาแน่นขนาดนี้ จึงทำให้สุขอนามัยของผู้คนต่ำกว่ามาตรฐาน
และเป็นแหล่งแพร่เชื้อชั้นดีหากเกิดโรคระบาด

และแล้วเรื่องราวทั้งหมดก็เริ่มขึ้น..

ช่วงกลางเดือนมีนาคม 2020 เริ่มปรากฏการระบาดของโควิด-19 ขึ้นในประเทศอินเดีย

จำนวนผู้ติดเชื้อในอินเดียเพิ่มสูงขึ้นเรื่อยๆ
โดยเมืองมุมไบและปริมณฑล เป็นเขตที่มีผู้ติดเชื้อโควิด-19 สูงที่สุดในประเทศ
ล่าสุดมีผู้ติดเชื้อเกือบ 27,000 ราย
คิดเป็น 1 ใน 4 ของผู้ติดเชื้อทั้งหมดในอินเดีย

รัฐบาลอินเดียได้ออกมาตรการ Lockdown ทั่วประเทศ
ซึ่งได้ยืดยาวออกไปจนถึงวันที่ 31 พฤษภาคม

ส่งผลให้ธุรกิจภาคบริการและค้าขายกว่าครึ่งของมุมไบ
ทั้งร้านค้าต่างๆ ห้างสรรพสินค้า ธุรกิจอสังหาริมทรัพย์ ธุรกิจขนส่ง กองถ่ายภาพยนตร์
สถานบันเทิง สนามคริกเกต ทั้งหมดต้องหยุดทำการ แรงงานนับแสนคนที่อพยพมาจากต่างถิ่น ต้องเดินเท้าเพื่อกลับบ้านเกิด

นักวิเคราะห์คาดว่า การ Lockdown ในมุมไบที่ผ่านมา
ได้สร้างความเสียหายเป็นมูลค่าอย่างน้อย 68,000 ล้านบาท

แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม มาตรการ Lockdown อาจไม่ได้ช่วยอะไรนัก
หากคำนึงถึงผู้คนที่อาศัยอยู่ในเขตสลัม

โดยเฉพาะ สลัมธาราวี ซึ่งในขณะนี้พบผู้ติดเชื้อมากกว่า 1,000 รายแล้ว

ด้วยความหนาแน่นประชากรที่สูงถึง 450,000 คน ต่อตารางกิโลเมตร
การเว้นระยะห่างทางสังคม คือสิ่งที่ “แทบเป็นไปไม่ได้”

จนถึงวันนี้..
จำนวนผู้ติดเชื้อในอินเดีย โดยเฉพาะในมุมไบยังคงสูงขึ้นเรื่อยๆ
และไม่มีทีท่าว่าจะชะลอลงง่ายๆ

มาตรการ Lockdown อาจถูกขยายเวลาต่อไป
ยิ่งซ้ำเติมเศรษฐกิจของมุมไบมากขึ้นทุกที

นักวิเคราะห์คาดการณ์ว่า ในสถานการณ์ที่แย่ที่สุด
เศรษฐกิจของอินเดียที่เคยเติบโตสูงต่อเนื่องมาหลายปี ในปี 2020 นี้ การเติบโตอาจเข้าขั้น “ติดลบ”

จากสถานการณ์ในขณะนี้ที่ดูเหมือนกำลังคลี่คลายลงในหลายประเทศทั่วโลก
แต่สิ่งที่มุมไบกำลังเผชิญอยู่ อาจเป็นเพียงแค่การเริ่มต้นเท่านั้น..
