It's Time for Taiwan!!
One thing you must do when you come to Taitung is to come around the seaside because it has the most beautiful coast here!
2016-2017 Episode 5 East Coast Line
Transcript
Welcome to TAIWAN, I am Poyu Lin, I love to travel ,love wandering around in Taiwan
Today,I am taking Taiwan Tourist Shuttles of East Coast Line. Along the route, we will see the natural, this great talented artist left us some vibrant fine sculptures here.
Oh it's a beautiful place, the ocean lines are good, everything is beautiful here
Wanna see how far your imagination can go? You’ll have to come to “Xiaoyeliu Scenic Area”. What do you think this rock looks like?
Doufu?Mushroom?Look, is it look like a frog?Honeycomb?Alien?Minions!
Ok,well,let me think another one
The interesting geological landscape of Xiaoyeliu was transformed through years of geological events, weathering and erosion. And the nature of its stratum, which is composed of overlapping layers of sandstone and mudstone, is the main ingredient to these unique sculptures.
Aside from the beautiful scenery here, there are also many popular legends. The most famous one is about Sanxiantai.Back then, you will have to wait for the outgoing tide to walk over and visit. Nowaday with the bridge built in between, it becomes more accessible.
From this angle you can take the coolest picture of Sanxiantai, having all 8 arch bridges in one shot. It looks like a giant dragon flying over the sea, doesn’t it?
So,Sanxiantai used to be connected to the main island, and due to coastal erosion it became separated. If you literally translate Sanxiantai into English, It means the island of the three saints, represented by the three rocks.
Now,I’m going to cross the bridges
there is total of 320 stairs, so it's not difficult to climb
The size of Sanxiantai is as big as 27 football fields! I have got lots of energy so let’s walk around the area and look for the 3 immortals!
I'm standing on Sanxiantai, the rock ,it’s so huge
However, for the native Amis Tribe, Sanxiantai is their traditional hunting and fishing ground and it is where food comes from. They called it “nuwalian”, which means “the place on the far east side”.
This is the Pisilian community, an enchanted Amis Tribe. The music instrument they were playing is called the “Paw-Paw” drum.
The “Paw-Paw drum ”is created by local artists. They use recycled plastic floats of stationary fishing net and driftwood; then put on traditional Amis patterns, and turn it into a one and only Pisilian-style green instrument.
This is easy to learn and great to play. You should to try it! today I’m going to say thank you for watching our show in Amis traditional language.
I am Poyu Lin, enjoy your time in Taiwan! “Aray”

2016-2017 Episode 2 Taroko Gorge Tour part2
Transcript
How would someone play music with a piece of bamboo?
“When a wild boar meets Eiffel Tower” what does it mean?
You can find the answers from the Taroko Gorge day tour with Taiwan Tour Bus!
When you take a trip on the Central Cross-Island Highway, you will find exquisite uncanny craftwork created by nature.
The geological formation of Taroko Gorge is made of thick marble rock. The gorge was shaped through years of vertical erosion by Liwu River and the earth crust uplift.
In Taroko Gorge, most people only take pictures on the side of the roads. Actually if you are the brave type, you can try to stand on the suspension bridge between the gorges like me. This is a great way to appreciate the majestic view of the gorge. But to be really honest, my feet are a bit trembling at this moment.
When you come to Taroko, besides the beautiful gorge, there is one other unique landscape worth noticing. On the mountain walls around the Swallow Grotto Trail, you will find someround holes.
This is called pothole in geologic term. This type of landform is shaped by nature through millions of years.
The Liwu river has changed the appearance of Taroko Gorge, including the Buluowan Tableland where I am standing at now. The Liwu River has also shaped Taroko through alluvial deposit and erosion activities. About 200 years ago, there were once 2 big families of the Truku tribe settled here.
The most famous set here is called “When a wild boar meets Eiffel Tower”. They put the rice inside the bamboo too. So it’s my turn to think how to get the rice out.
The chef creating this wonderful dish is of Truku origin and has worked in a French restaurant of a 5-star hotel. He has transformed traditional Truku dishes into sophisticated aboriginal-style meals.
Today we will be staying at the cottage of Buluowan Tableland. This place gets very busy at night and everyone comes out to join the party, of course, the stars and insects will be there, too.
This is the traditional music instrument called Jew's harp. What a nice sound! Now it’s my turn to try.
Jew's harp is made of Makino Bamboo. The way to play it is place it in your mouth and by pulling the string it will move the bamboo flake and the vibration will amplify through your mouth.
This is not as easy as I thought! Come and try it if you come to visit!I am Poyu Lin, enjoy your time in Taiwan! Chow~ see you next time.
我是林柏妤,enjoy your time in TAIWAN!

2.Haus der Musik

When you ask Europeans when shall you come to visit Europe, the answer will be in summer!
My friends sometimes also ask me shall they come in winter? Fabian always says: ask them to consider it again! Winter in Europe is really not nice and beautiful. Only when it's snowy, it's very nice. Otherwise, Europe is normally gray, cloudy and rainy all the time in winter. And you also need to bring lots of things like your thick jacket. For Asians, it's also too cold for us.
This new year vacation, we decided to travel with our friends in Europe. I was lucky enough to have snowy views. But when the snow is melting, the street becomes dirty and your shoes as well. In my opinion, visiting Europe in summer is definitely better than in winter:)
1.Vienna: Schloss Schönbrunn
A baroque style palace. In this castle, there's a romantic love story about Sissi and Franz. When you visit the castle, you cannot take photos inside so I can only share with you the photos we took from outside the castle. One thing I like about the visit is that they have a good brochure for ppl. You can know the whole information from it and have a better understanding of the exhibitions.
2.Haus der Musik: Vienna music museum
The founder of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra once lived in this museum. Here you can know the all information and history of the Orchestra. They also exhibit things of Mozart and Beethoven. There are some facilities you can interact.

Tuk Tuk surfing...This was one of those videos I've been wanting to film for a long time, and finally had the chance to film it! It wouldn't have been possible without Love Life. You can check them and their amazingly delicious ice cream + food here: https://www.facebook.com/lovelifelaos
The amazing music was made by Can't Stop Won't Stop. You can check out more of his great music here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaVVXMTWhpBQueGkw4gH72A

Here is some background on the whole filming process. Love Life came to me and said they wanted to do a video together. They gave me the creative license to come up with whatever idea I wanted. Once approved, they help get it all set up. They got me the tuk tuk, the harness for filming off the side of the tuk tuk, and all the little things.
Day of filming: We met up at 530 a.m. to get everything set and tested. At 6:15 we hit up Patuxay and the main roads of Vientiane so we could get the shots before there was traffic... and cops :)
After that, we headed to the Mekhong River and shot the introduction. I love introductions, I feel like they are what will make the viewer keep watching, or turn it off. The first 10-20 seconds are super important for any clip. Then we finished filming up at That Luang.
The cop at the end wasn't set up... He really came up to us and told us to get out.. so we did, but not before we got the running away shots to make it a great ending to a super fun video!
All in all, it took us about 3 hours to film in the different locations with the different angles. It was a blast, and I hope to have an opportunity to work with Love Life and many other companies in the future!
Make sure to follow me on instagram, facebook, and subscribe on youtube, it's the cool thing to do these days :)

What my mother thinks: 2:27
Skip to the Viet Part: 8:00
First of all, never ever would I have thought I'd be back this soon, but yes, I was back in Vietnam the past month and filmed some great content for you guys that will be released in the weeks and months to come. Secondly, I will have a viewer meet, greet, and eat in Fullerton on the 19th. Details at FB.com/KyleLe.net
Please RSVP. Lastly, I'm going against my mother's wishes for now and will continue to make as many videos of Vietnamese people abroad as possible because of many reasons. First, this is my passion right now. Meeting and hearing people's stories of struggles and success gives me a lot of pride in being Vietnamese and how resilient we are. Secondly, I have a degree in history and I understand the importance of recording history. If we don't save or document history, it will be lost forever. The younger generations or the current ones unaware should at least know some history. They'll have a better understanding and respect for where they came from. Perhaps then, hearing experiences and stories from others will also motivate and inspire them. It certainly influenced me. And lastly, I hope to continue to fine tune and learn from this short documentary production art. It's a form of expression that I've been doing for years and always want to improve and make better videos. Certain opportunities have arisen from the past, and hopefully more might happen in the future. The only way I'll know is if I keep creating content that I am passionate about
However, I can't do this alone. I need your help in finding stories and sharing experiences. I'm a one person operation without a team or crew or partner. I am on my own, but I'm not truly alone. Your support in the past and recently has been highly noted and appreciated. It also motivated me to continue. If anyone can offer help in any way or stories, feel free to write me on http://www.fb.com/KyleLe.net
As much as I would love to meet all of you, please give me specifics and not just a come to (insert city here). I'm looking for specific stories of Vietnamese people or any people. It doesn't have to just be Vietnamese. It just has to be the right story and the right timing. Again, thank you for joining me on this journey. And mom, I'm sorry, just give me some more time.

This is not the end of Vietnam videos! Good news! When I left Vietnam in early March (when this video was filmed) I never thought I would be returning so soon. That's right, I'm coming back during the summer for 1 month only to film more content. I am only visiting and have no plans to move back. I was given an opportunity a few weeks ago through a flight sponsorship to film a documentary about a boat refugee story that is quite compelling. There's someone out there who really enjoyed my boat refugee videos and want their story told. It's as simple as that. If I could get these stories on a mainstream site, like the Huff Post, I feel like I've done what little I could to preserve Vietnamese history through oral history. If we don't record history, it'll be lost forever. I was unsure but with the approval of my parents, I'm going to accept this blessing and opportunity. Hard work pays off in ways you could never imagine it. Plus, I felt incomplete towards the end of my stay in Vietnam because I couldn't film as many documentaries as possible, including one about my grandmother. In order for me to truly begin something new, I have to finish what I started. I feel very "unfinished" right now. I just ran out of time from having to edit so much. In the past two months I've met so many of you and to hear your support and love for Vietnam videos, made me feel like it was my duty to delay reality a little longer so I could present more content. In other words, a month of my time can equate to two or three months worth of videos that many people can enjoy. I don't miss Vietnam and I'm happier since leaving, but I'm excited to get back to see Vietnam from a slightly different perspective as a tourist and not as someone living there. During the summer, a lot of familiar faces and featured guests will also be there, so it would be very fitting to be there as well. I can't wait to see my friends and family again. There are other opportunities that also came up that allowed me to make this decision, but you will see them at a later time. This is kind of a redemption trip for me where I can tie up all the loose strings and feelings of incompleteness that I've felt since leaving. Again, I want to emphasize that I'm happy and fine since leaving. There's no yearning to move away from America right now, but I do have a passion to create a few more Vietnam videos. I don't really care much about the famous places as I have been to most of them, but this time it's more about telling stories. I will have some travel vlogs as usual, but I want to focus more on short documentaries. Again, thank you for everyone who wrote me messages the past few days. Nothing much has changed in life, I'm currently in SoCal just editing videos like crazy every day. You will love the Vietnamese diaspora content coming up and the limited run Vietnam content coming in the near future. So my question to you is, and probably for the last time is, what would you like to see in Vietnam?
My biggest regret when it comes to living in Vietnam for over 5 years is the fact that I worked too hard, especially on weekends, and didn't have a chance to spend more time with my family. I was too tired from work to make the drive and I didn't want to displace anyone from their rooms. I didn't want to bother them or I was annoyed of their antics and opinions. It was also very hot most of the time as few of my relatives actually have AC in common areas. Towards the end of my sojourn, I visited them more often and thus we got closer towards the end. I will return soon to spend more time with them and to film more content from Vietnam for you guys!
