"Let's eat, the Taiwan way. "
'Eating the Taiwan way' might make less sense in English. Yet in Mandarin, “flavor” is pronounced “way,” so we have decided to call authentic Taiwanese flavors the “Taiwan Way.”
Taiwan is an island where several different cultures meet. She's beared numerous stories of both hardship and endurance, and Taiwanese food is the dialogue. Every Taiwanese has a "Taiwan flavor" which reminds them of home and simple happiness.
However, what precisely is authentic Taiwanese cuisine? The question seems simple yet somehow complicated. One cannot really have a straightfoward answer. Its characteristics are slightly tainted by ambiguity. Up to now, it has defied definition but efforts are afoot to give it a clear identity and have it resonate around the world. In the video "Let's Eat, the Taiwan Way", CommonWealth Magazine documented these efforts, presenting them to the Taiwanese people and hopefully the entire world.
While we eat and feast on our delicious cuisines, let us also 'find' the Taiwan Way.
