Staying at KSL resort hotel in JB was a really good experience for me cos the hotel is just beside my Harmony Bakery (from the hotel lobby, there’s a door that links to the mall & u will see my bakery unit G44😉) you can order cakes at Harmony Bakery first, then go shop the mall, do ur nails & hair etc before you collect the cakes & come back to Singapore!! But I must say KSL resort’s rooms are nice & clean, bed is soooooo comfy, buffet breakfast is quite good too.. best of all, I don’t have to Q to check out, I simply drop the room key into the check out box 拍拍屁股走人!! How convenient!! Make it your choice too when you go JB for staycation!! ☺️😊

Nasi goreng, literally meaning "fried rice" in Indonesian and Malay, is considered Indonesia’s national dish. It can refer simply to fried pre-cooked rice, a meal including stir fried rice in small amount of cooking oil or margarine, typically spiced with kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), shallot, garlic, ground shrimp paste, tamarind and chilli and accompanied by other ingredients, particularly egg, chicken and prawns. There is also another kind of nasi goreng which is made with ikan asin (salted dried fish) which is also popular across Indonesia. Nasi goreng is sometimes described as Indonesian stir-fried rice, although it is also popular in Malaysia, Singapore and the Netherlands. It is distinguished from other Asian fried rice recipes by its aromatic, earthy and smoky flavor; owed to generous amount of caramelized sweet soy sauce and powdered shrimp paste, and the taste is stronger and spicier compared to Chinese fried rice.
Nasi goreng has been called the national dish of Indonesia, though there are many other contenders. It can be enjoyed in simple versions from a tin plate at a roadside food stall, eaten on porcelain in restaurants, or collected from the buffet tables of Jakarta dinner parties.
In 2011 an online poll by 35,000 people held by CNN International chose Indonesian nasi goreng as the number two of their 'World’s 50 Most Delicious Foods' list after rendang.

There is also another kind of nasi goreng which is made with ikan asin (salted dried fish) which is also popular across Indonesia. Nasi goreng is sometimes described as Indonesian stir-fried rice,[3] although it is also popular in Malaysia, Singapore and the Netherlands. It is distinguished from other Asian fried rice recipes by its aromatic, earthy and smoky flavor; owed to generous amount of caramelized sweet soy sauce and powdered shrimp paste, and the taste is stronger and spicier compared to Chinese fried rice.

Nasi goreng is distinguished from other Asian fried rice recipes by its aromatic, earthy and smoky flavour; owed to generous amount of caramelized kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) and ground powdered terasi (shrimp paste), and the taste is stronger and spicier compared to Chinese fried rice. Nasi goreng often includes krupuk and bawang goreng (fried shallots) or (fried onions) to give a crispier texture.
The main ingredients of nasi goreng include pre-cooked rice, sweet soy sauce, powdered shrimp paste, salt, garlic, shallot, chilli pepper, spring onions, nutmeg, turmeric, vegetable oil, onions, palm sugar, ginger garlic paste, and slices of cucumber and tomato for garnishing. Some recipes may add black pepper, terasi (shrimp paste), fish sauce, or powdered broth as a seasoning and taste enhancer. Eggs might be mixed into fried rice or fried separately, either as telur ceplok/telur mata sapi (sunny side up eggs), or telur dadar (omelette), and also telur rebus (boiled eggs). Originally optional, the addition of fried egg is often named as nasi goreng spesial (pakai telur) or special fried rice topped with fried egg.

For this video, I went down to Little Sheep Hot Pot at Orchard Gateway to treat myself to over $1300 worth of premium hotpot food! Little Sheep is a hot pot-style restaurant chain that specialises in various prime cuts of meat, especially lamb. It does not offer a buffet option as many hotpot places do, but provides high-end ala carte choices for the hungry customer.
We ordered 4 different broths: a traditional herbal broth, which comprised of over 20 spices and aromatics, with numerous whole cloves of garlic floating on top and designed to eliminate any “gamey” flavour and smell from lamb; a spicy mala broth that was deep red due to a thick layer of chilli oil on top and with bits of dried chillies and Szechuan peppercorns with every ladleful; a tomato broth that was akin to a rich tomato soup and a mushroom broth that had a deep concentrated mushroom umami flavour.
Personally, I found the meat went best with the traditional broth which was wonderfully flavourful and complemented the meat well and it was worth alternating with the mala broth which had a decent kick to it but was not overpoweringly spicy. The mushroom and tomato broths seemed slightly out of place to me, though certain cuts of meat, like the beef, paired very well with them. I thought they would be better off being consumed on their own as appetisers.
The star of the feast was of course, the choice cuts of meat given, including supremely marbled wagyu beef, richly flavoured kurobuta pork and invitingly aesthetic lamb. Every piece of meat was gorgeously presented and thinly shaven, so they cooked within seconds in the simmering cauldron of ambrosial broth, with barely any chewing needed to swallow the cooked pieces. We also tried their lamb and beef kebabs which were heavily spiced and beautifully grilled on a barbeque, resulting in explosions of earthy flavour and a slight spicy note with every bite. To round off the meal, we sampled a few of their in-house drinks; Draft Denmark, a beer which was mildly flavoured and easy on the palate; winter melon tea, which was refreshingly sweet and calamansi juice that offered a sour bite for those who enjoy it.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience and I would recommend it to all whose wallet permits.
Do treat yourself to a delectable hot pot feast at Little Sheep Hot Pot!
