Today I looked at my new electric toothbrush and marveled at the rated battery life.
“If I packed this for a trip, it would last two whole weeks without charging,” I thought to myself.
Then I realized. What trip. And sat on the toilet bowl sobbing.

維洛那（義大利語：Verona）是位於義大利北部威尼託大區阿迪傑河畔的一座歷史悠久的城市，2000年入選聯合國教科文組織的世界遺產。
莎士比亞的名作《羅密歐與茱麗葉》以此城為背景。
如今的維洛那因坐落在阿達湖和威尼斯的附近，成為旅遊勝地和威尼托地區的經濟中心。
維洛那最雄偉的建築是競技場，它同時也是羅馬式的圓形露天劇場，它是世界上現存的第三大圓形競技場，每年夏天都舉行歌劇演出，吸引了眾多的歌劇迷。
維洛那有多座教堂。Santa Maria Matricolare大教堂建於1187年，結合了羅馬式建築和哥德式建築兩種風格，大教堂因文藝復興後期偉大畫家提香的作品《瑪利亞升天》而出名。Sant'Anastasia教堂是維洛那最大的教堂，由多明我會建造於1290年至1481年間，它的正面保持著沒有完工的狀態，內飾豪華，並以駝背雕像背著的聖水池而出名。San Fermo Maggiore教堂由本篤會建造於1065年至1138年間，教堂正面展現了羅馬式和哥德式兩種不同的建築風格。Basilica di San Zeno教堂建於12世紀和13世紀，整棟建築呈現羅馬式，但屋頂卻是哥德式，引人注目的是教堂的鐘樓和教堂正面的巨型圓窗。
莎士比亞劇作《羅密歐與茱麗葉》的故事發生在維洛那，羅密歐曾在茱麗葉家的陽台向朱麗葉求愛，這段悲劇愛情故事和朱麗葉的陽台一起留給了後世。維洛那城內仍保留著朱麗葉的故居，故居中「朱麗葉的陽台」每年吸引著數百萬的遊客。雖然這部戲劇的最早版本發生在錫耶納而不是維洛那，實際上也並不存在「朱麗葉的陽台」，維洛那人不得不一次又一次地向慕名而來的遊客解釋這一遺憾的事實，但他們出於旅遊業的目的還是在故居後院中按照莎士比亞的巨作建造起一座象徵性陽台，以供遊客朝拜這座「愛的聖地」，故居牆上也留下了無數遊客愛情誓言的塗鴉。陽台下有一座朱麗葉的銅像，右胸因傳會帶來好運而已經被遊客撫摸得發亮。
維洛那曾留下過許多重要人物的足跡，同歐洲歷史息息相關，凱撒大帝曾選擇維洛那作為他的度假地，義大利東哥德王國的創始者狄奧多里克大帝和他的繼任者們，義大利倫巴第王國的建立者阿爾博因和倫巴第的公爵們、法蘭克王國國王查理大帝和他的兒子義大利國王丕平、義大利國王貝倫加爾一世、義大利文藝復興詩人但丁等都曾居住在維洛那，羅馬天主教會產生羅馬主教的教宗選舉也曾在維洛那舉行。維洛那也出現在德國作家歌德、法國作家司湯達和瓦勒里的旅行日記中。
