Also known as 'the claypot chicken rice next to Maybank' at Pudu, this stall has been around for close to 40 years. It's also one of the few remaining stalls in KL that still uses charcoal stove to cook.
Extremely popular recently so the waiting time could get a bit long.
One of the oldest Claypot Chicken Rice stalls in KL can be found in Pudu next to Maybank opposite Sek Yuen restaurant. The stall has been operating since 1980, when some of us were not even born.
Till today, the owner-cum-cook still prepares every order by himself and holds on to a set of principles that defines his claypot chicken rice:
1️⃣ Rice must be cooked on charcoal stove to infuse a rich smoky taste.
2️⃣ Only 'old rice' is used. The texture of 'old rice' is firmer, can withstand heat and forms a more delicious crust when charred.
3️⃣ The chicken must be topped with minced ginger sauce to enhance the flavor while removing any chicken odor.
4️⃣ The dish has to be cooked with lard for aroma. *Vegetable oil is available upon request
