Attended Dr Lee Seng Gee’s wake today.
There have been many successful businessmen in Singapore. But very few like Dr Lee, who was even more successful as a philanthropist. He was a rare, selfless and humble individual, who led Lee Foundation to become the largest private charitable foundation in Singapore, and to support many good causes, regardless of race, language and religion.
The Lee Foundation has transformed countless lives and benefitted many institutions including the National Library, and academic institutions like NAFA, SMU, NUS and NTU. Dr Lee’s life reminds us that success is defined not by your wealth, but by your contributions to the community.
We encourage businesses and individuals to give back to society, and make a difference to others. Dr Lee’s life sets an example to us all.
