「用V字陣對抗哈卡舞，不行嗎？」世界盃橄欖球賽本周將進入決賽，不過26日在英格蘭對紐西蘭的準決賽時，開打前紐西蘭隊按照傳統慣例跳了儀式性的戰舞「哈卡」（Haka），面對前兩屆冠軍的宣戰態勢，英格蘭則擺出一列V字陣型來與哈卡舞「對抗」——結果就被罰錢了。
事件發生在26日的準決賽，英格蘭與紐西蘭的兩強對決，在比賽開始之前，紐西蘭「黑衫軍」（All Blacks）依照慣例，跳了一段毛利人的傳統舞蹈哈卡，振奮士氣的同時，以強而有力的肢體動作戰吼來威嚇對手。哈卡如今已是世界知名的傳統文化、成為紐西蘭隊的象徵，不過面對哈卡的「挑戰」，對手應該擺什麼表情？
有許多球隊會選擇以肩並肩靠攏的方式來面對紐西蘭的戰舞，不過英格蘭隊在當天卻是向兩側散開、排出一個「V」字陣型，畫面中可以看到球員手插著腰，隊長法瑞爾（Owen Farrell）還一邊看著哈卡一邊露出「神秘的微笑」，有和哈卡戰舞抗衡的意味。
大賽官方將這段現場影片上傳到自家的YouTube頻道後，瞬間引發數百萬點閱的熱烈迴響，有人稱讚英格蘭隊的做法、也有人質疑英格蘭隊是不是有意冒犯他人的傳統文化。但由於在2011年時法國隊也曾對紐西蘭做出類似的「反抗」動作，結果遭到賽事官方判定違規罰款，那這次英格蘭是不是也要比照辦理？
根據29日的相關報導，英格蘭隊最後被裁定罰款，理由是「越過球場中線」。在世界盃橄欖球賽的官方規定當中，有表明當紐西蘭隊正在進行哈卡舞時「不得越過中線」，以確保安全距離；但當天英格蘭V字陣的兩側共有6名球員越線，因此才被認定違規罰款。
理由其實和2011年的法國隊相同，都是違反「文化儀式規定」（cultural ritual protocol）。當時法國隊在面對哈卡舞時，並肩組成一條人龍來對抗，結果後來越過中線而被罰款2,500英鎊（約新台幣10萬）；而這次英格蘭的罰款金額並未對外透露，只知道是4位數、但金額比法國隊來得低。
文化儀式規定是從2007年的世界盃橄欖球比賽後才訂出，當時的法國隊（又是法國）對上紐西蘭，開賽前雙方距離太近，當紐西蘭隊進行哈卡的時候，組成人龍的法國隊幾乎與對方只差兩、三步的距離，「都快要鼻子碰鼻子了」，因為擔心情緒高漲以及可能發生的危險，而後訂立不得越過中場的限制。
「我就是不想呆呆站在那邊，一直讓對方主動。」英格蘭隊主將法瑞爾表示，V字陣就是對抗哈卡所採取的動作，而且是教練出的主意，同對紐西蘭裔的球員維尼波拉（Mako Vunipola）也說，「我知道這招就是會讓他們（紐西蘭隊）超火大！」
不過紐西蘭隊友感覺被冒犯嗎？「沒有，沒感覺怎樣。」紐西蘭隊主將里德（Kieran Read）向媒體表示，黑衫軍跳哈卡已經有百年歷史，「這是關於我們自己的事，根本就沒注意到他們。」不過里德確實看到法瑞爾的表情，「我看他一直眨眼一直笑，我想盡辦法用哈卡來嚇嚇他！」該場比賽結果，則是英格蘭19：7擊退黑衫軍。
英格蘭隊將在11月1日的決賽中出戰南非隊，屆時英國哈利王子也將飛往日本橫濱到場觀賽支持。因為講到英國和橄欖球，最後進入回憶模式——2015年當時還是倫敦市長的強生（Boris Johnson）訪問日本東京，酷愛橄欖球的強生和東京小學生比了一場友誼賽，但這個明明是互動康樂性質的活動，強生卻異常認真橫衝直撞，把小學生撞翻倒地。四年後，強生當上了英國首相。
