My first ever cosplay - female Pudge!
This project took me a little more than two weeks, and since it was my first ever cosplay, it took me a long time and many trips to look for suitable materials, fabrics and paint.
My sister and I came up with the overall concept design after selecting the hero from a long list. The idea was to create a more appealing female counterpart to the Dota 2 butcher Pudge, since you already have an original male version with entrails spilling out looking gross and menacing!
So in the end we had the top and bottom halves of the ripped and bloodied apron, the tattered pants, metal rings and chains, two detailed pieces of armguards and all the body paint.
I wanna thank my sis Yun Zhi for helping me with the entire process of creating the cosplay plus body paint & makeup on the launch day; huge thanks to Emmikka for lending me her Pudge weapons and Shaunie for invaluable cosplay tips and advice along the way!
Working on this project for the past few weeks reminded me of the tedious yet rewarding process of creating an art piece - cosplay is no doubt an art form in itself. Huge respect to all the cosplayers who've been doing this for a long time.
This female Pudge cosplay as a start definitely has ample room for improvement, but after taking the first step I realised just how fun it is to dress up and play a character from your favourite game! Will work on more cosplay projects in the future if I have the time to. <3
