🛑1. Assumption: (Noun) /əˈsʌm(p)ʃ(ə)n/ : giả định
- Definition: Một cái gì đó bạn nghĩ là đúng mặc dù bạn không có bằng chứng rõ ràng.
- Synonyms: Acceptance, Presumption, Hypothesis.
👉 - Example:
For IELTS Speaking:
“A lot of people make the assumption that poverty only exists in the developing countries.”
“Our plans were based on the assumption that everyone would be willing to help.”
- For IELTS Writing:
“The furore among providers about current government-funding policies which challenge the latter assumption suggests that this is a real danger.”
🛑2. Hierarchy: (Noun) /ˈhʌɪərɑːki/: Cấp bậc
- Definition: Một hệ thống tổ chức trong đó con người được chia thành các mức độ quan trọng gọi là cấp bậc.
- Synonyms: Position, Ranking
👉 Example:
- For IELTS Speaking:
“He can afford to argue with the local hierarchy when the interests of his order require it.”
“Society was arranged in a dual hierarchy, of laymen and clergy.“
- For IELTS Writing:
“When children are segregated by ability groups, a social hierarchy develops.”
🛑3. Coincidence: (Noun) /kəʊˈɪnsɪd(ə)ns/: Trùng hợp ngẫu nhiên
- Definition: Khi hai điều xảy ra cùng một lúc, ở cùng một nơi, hoặc với cùng một người theo cách có vẻ như bất ngờ hoặc bất thường.
- Synonyms: Accident, Happening

- For IELTS Speaking:
“By coincidence, Jane and I both study at a University of Economics.”

🛑4. Licence: (Noun) /ˈlaɪsns/: Giấy phép
- Definition: Một tài liệu chính thức cho thấy đã được cho phép làm, sở hữu hoặc sử dụng thứ gì đó.
- Synonyms: Authorization, Certificate, Charter.

For IELTS Speaking:
- “You can buy a TV licence at the post office. “
“The company has won the licence to run trains from the south coast to London.“

🛑5. Undertake: (Verb) /ˌʌndəˈteɪk/: Thực hiện
- Definition:Làm một cái gì đó hoặc bắt đầu làm cái gì đó.
- Synonyms: Shoulder, Engage, Launch.

“University professors both teach and undertake research.”
“The company has announced that it will undertake a full investigation into the accident.”
- For IELTS Writing:

【口說要提升 fluency (流暢度) 要做怎樣的練習呢? 科學研究重要文獻】
如標題,我常常被學生問這樣的問題。也有學生問我說,我中文講話就沒有很快,英文有可能很流暢嗎?
有關這樣的問題,之後會用直播的方式和一些文章跟大家探討「口說的文法特色」以及「提升流暢度的學習方法」。
✔︎ 但想先跟大家分享的重要觀念是:
流暢不是「語速快」,而是「停頓少」。

而要怎樣看英/美劇、怎樣看 TED、怎樣看 VoiceTube 的影片、怎樣聽 podcast (In other words, 怎樣處理 input),再怎樣做練習,才能夠即便頭腦裡還沒有完整的想法、或是還找不到表達方法時,也可以「停頓少」,邏輯上來講就是提升 fluency 的學習方法。
(英文的 output 質量可以用 accuracy, fluency, variety, complexity, appropriateness 幾個面向去檢視、或設定學習目標)
