Water has always been an existential issue for Singapore. Clean and safe water is readily available at the turn of the tap, but each drop is hard-won and precious.
Therefore I am encouraged to see our young understanding the importance of water for Singapore, and coming up with innovative solutions. Sec 4 students Low Jeen Liang and Yiu Yi Hin Kinsey from Hwa Chong Institution will be competing for the Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP), an annual international competition for students who have developed school projects that solve major water challenges. Their project won the national-level competition and will be representing Singapore as 1 of 29 international entries.
And for the first time this year, the public can vote for their favourite project in the SJWP via the People’s Choice Award. Talking with a friend the other day, we realized how much we took Japanese alcohol for granted. It's cheap, it's readily available, and while age-verification laws exist, they are not strictly enforced by any means.
Going back to Canada where liquor stores close at a certain time, and require 2 pieces of ID always, is always a culture shock.
Actually the truth is I don't drink very much, and I'm not a fan of hard liquor, so I quite appreciate the 3-4% fruity cocktails that can be bought at the nearby convenience store, 24 hours a day.

（字幕ONにしてご覧ください）ダイソーの『くまのプーさん ケーキ型カップ シリコーン』を使ってホットミルクが入ってるみたいなマグカップ型のクッキーを作ってみました。こんな感じのお菓子を作りたいな〜と考えてた時に やっと出会えたのがこのプーさんのシリコン型。形も大きさもマグカップクッキーにピッタリじゃん！既製品のお菓子『チョコレートポテコ』の力も借りて、できあがりました！1つでもインパクトがあるので、プレゼントにしてもいいかも。これまたダイソーで買ったワックスペーパーを使って簡単ラッピングもしました。
*レシピ*（6マグカップ）
１．室温に戻した 無塩バター 80gを混ぜる。
２．粉砂糖 35g、塩 ひとつまみをフルイ入れ混ぜる。
３．薄力粉 120g、ココアパウダー 10gを合わせてフルイ入れ、さっくりと混ぜ、ひとまとめにする。
４．6等分する。1つあたり38gです。
５．型に４を詰める。シリコン型をひっくり返し、生地を密着させ空気が入らないように押し込んで詰めると良い。
６．一周り小さいコップの底などを押し付け、ガイドの型押しをする。
７．ガイドの円の内側に竹串を刺し、空気穴を作る。
８．冷蔵庫で30分〜1時間冷やす。
９．天板に８を並べ、オーブンシートを挟み、天板などで蓋をする。
１０．150度に予熱したオーブンでおよそ35分焼く。
１１．そのまま10〜15分冷まし、粗熱を取る。
１２．型から取り出し、網などの上でしっかり冷ます。
１３．接着剤代わりの溶かしたチョコレートを使って、取っ手をつける。冷蔵庫で冷やす。取っ手に見立てた『チョコレートポテコ』はセブンイレブンで買いました。
１４．溶かしたホワイトチョコレート 40gを上に丸く置く。
１５．好みのデコをする。デコ素材のミニマシュマロ、チョコチップツイン、ホワイトクランチは、ダイソーで買いました。冷蔵庫で冷やす。
１６．でけた。
ラッピングは22センチの正方形に切ったワックスペーパーで作りました。できあがりの袋の底の1辺は6センチの正方形になるよように折り、クッキーをラッピングしました。
ほろっとしたココアクッキーにホワイトチョコレートがマッチしておいしい。普通のポテコで白いバージョンもいいですね。

We tried making a cookie in the shape of a mug with hot milk in it using DAISO's "Winnie the Pooh-shaped silicone cake mold". After thinking that we'd love to make sweets like this, we finally stumbled across this Winnie the Pooh-shaped silicone mold. Isn't it's shape and size perfect for mug cookies?! Drawing upon the awesomeness that is the readily available "Chocolate Poteko" snack, we were able to do it! Even just one cookie can be impactful to they could make great presents. We made simple wrapping from wax paper that we also got from DAISO.
*Recipe* (6 mugs)
1. Mix 80g of room temperature butter.
2. Sieve and mix in 35g of powdered sugar and a pinch of salt.
3. Combine and sieve 120g of all purpose flour & 10g of cocoa powder. Mix well as we will be lumping it all together.
4. Divide into 6 pieces, each being around 38g.
5. Put Step 4 into the molds. It's a good idea to turn the molds over and press firmly so no air pockets get in.
6. Press all around the bottom of the small cups along the shape of the guide.
7. Pierce the inner circle of the guide with a skewer to ventilate.
8. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes ~ 1 hour to chill.
9. Arrange Step 8 onto a cookie sheet, put a baking sheet over it, and then another cookie sheet on top of that.
10. Bake for around 35 minutes in an oven pre-heated at 150°C.
11. Allow to cool as-is for 10~15 minutes.
12. Remove the cookies from their molds and cool on a wire rack.
13. Attach the handle using melted chocolate instead of glue. Cool in the fridge. We bought "Chocolate Poteko" that looks like a handle at a 7-Eleven.
14. Put 40g of melted white chocolate on top.
15. Decorate as desired. We bought mini marshmallows, "Chocolate Chip Twins", and "White Crunch" at DAISO. Chill the cookies in the fridge.
16. Finished.
We made the wrapping by cutting 22cm rectangles of wax paper, folding one side of the bottom of the gift bags into a 6cm rectangle and wrapped the cookie.
The delicious chocolate cookie pairs well with the white chocolate and is utterly delicious. It'd also work well with the white version of "Poteko".
