以前お伝えした内容を英訳しました。たくさんの方に伝わって欲しいです。ミスジャパンは、日本内の大会ですが、この記事から日本の災害についてと、今後の取り組みについてたくさんの方に伝わればと考えています。

Hello, everyone. My name is Misato Hayashi.I am Miss Miyagi of Miss Japan 2020. Nice to meet you.🌷✨
I am originally from Shinchi-machi, Fukushima prefecture.
I moved to Marumori-machi last October and started new career as a member of “Chiiki-Okoshi-Kyouryokutai” or Local Community Reactivating Cooperator (translated by the Ministry of Internal affairs and Communications (MIC)), who works as a part-time staff of local government office with my own business skill.
Today, I would like to share the reason why I applied for Miss Japan 2020.
Do you remember what happened October 2019?
That was the same time as I just moved to Marumori-machi, Typhoon Hagibis hit the town and left serious damage. The typhoon not only destroyed the buildings, but also caused flooded and engulfed the entire town. In addition, land slide at many points cut the roads and delayed the evacuation and recovery efforts. People were forced to leave their home and move to evacuation centers.
Today, a great number of people still have to live in prefabricated temporary housings.
Not only Marumori, some other areas such as in Fukushima and Chiba prefectures still need of support.
This catastrophe made me decide to challenge myself to being Miss Japan 2020 in order to get more opportunities to tell what happens in disaster-hit sites.
After the disaster, I visited the evacuation shelters every day and listened to the evacuees. The situation especially on their living condition was changing day by day, so I was considering what they need and what support we can provide for them.
Since the situation rapidly changed, it required speedy decision making and response.
But I sometimes failed. I thought I could do much more while feeling the lack of power.
Not only people in Marumori, we need to think more about possible natural disasters in Japan.
We don’t know when it comes but we know it comes.
I would like to be the person who can make appropriate actions in such a disaster situation so that I can help more people.
I knew what the people at shelters needed, and I wanted to answer them. However, I didn’t have enough capabilities to satisfy their needs so I had to ask for help. When asking for help, credibility and how effectively spread the information is very important.
In order to trust and help with each other in an emergency, building and maintaining relationship among people, organization and towns in peace time is also important.
I believe these are the vital to survive or fight against disasters.
Since I never had an audition or acted as a model, almost everything will be the first time and challenge for me. Honestly, if the typhoon did not hit Marumori, I would never thought about applying for Miss Japan 2020. I hope my challenge and messages will be the trigger to think about disasters and also to remember what we learned from 3.11.
I will do my best to bring good news to Miyagi, so I truly appreciate your sincere support.
