Good thing I got it back for him. Mu Cang Chai is a small town in Yen Bai Province that sees limited tourism. The step rice paddies are the best I've ever seen in Vietnam. If you're looking at a place that isnt too far away from Sa Pa, but offers less tourist amenities and less tourists all together, then consider checking out Yen Bai Province. The ride there won't be easy, watch out for landslides too. But in the end it was worth it.
Giap's Mavik lost signal and landed when the battery was too low. I'm inexperienced and greedy. I wanted to fly it further to capture more and more footage before it started raining again. I flew too far on battery that was too low and the craft couldn't return home. Local Hmong children helped us, but they couldn't read the map forever. They did lead us to a man who could and in the end we found it a couple of miles away. Luckily, it landed on dirt and not on the wet rice paddies.
