ในนิตยสาร EDGE ฉบับล่าสุด CD Projekt RED ผู้พัฒนาเกมได้กล่าวเอาไว้ว่า สิ่งที่พวกเขากำลังแข่งขันด้วยจริง ๆ แล้ว คือผลงานก่อนหน้าอย่าง The Witcher 3 ที่ได้กลายเป็นมาตรฐานใหม่ในวงการเกม รวมไปถึงเกมแนว Action RPG ที่ออกมาเมื่อปี 2015
