外交部誠摯歡迎美國聯邦參議員達克沃絲、蘇利文及昆斯來台，3位重量級國會議員特地從訪韓行程排出時間，於今日搭乘軍機旋風訪台，時程超級緊湊，挺台的心意和行動令人感動。外交部吳部長親自接機，對美國參議員組團來訪，帶來美方對台灣堅定支持的訊息表達誠摯歡迎與感謝。

達克沃絲參議員 #代表美國政府宣布將贈與台灣75萬劑疫苗！台灣是第一個美方正式、明確宣布具體援贈疫苗數量的國家，展現美國重視與台灣的夥伴關係，並將堅定支持台灣抗疫。她還提到台灣去年在疫情初期捐贈美國1000萬口罩，令人難忘；蘇利文參議員致詞提到口罩是來自台灣的愛，現在疫苗是來自美國的愛，以作為回報。

達克沃絲參議員更表示：
「我和我的家人都知道自由的代價。我在此告訴各位，美國不會讓你們孤軍奮戰，我們將與你們同在。」

吳部長表示，任何國家均無法孤軍奮戰對抗疫情。感謝美國政府宣布捐贈疫苗給台灣，感謝許多理念相近國家給予台灣的支持。台灣人民將克服疫情，如同我們以力量、團結及堅持戰勝其他挑戰。

達克沃絲、蘇利文及昆斯參議員都是我國在美國會的長期友人。達克沃絲是傳奇美軍英雄，她在伊拉克軍事行動中失去雙腳，也是第一位帶著寶寶在參議院投票的美國參議員，她與蘇利文參議員同為聯邦參議院軍事委員會成員，曾多次在美國會投票力挺友台議案；昆斯則是《台灣保證法》（Taiwan Assurance Act）及《台北法》（TAIPEI Act）的共同提案人，並且是美國總統拜登摯友，與白宮往來密切。

外交部感謝美國國會跨黨派對台灣的強勁支持，將持續與美方攜手合作，共同深化台美緊密的夥伴關係。

MOFA welcomes the whirlwind visit of Senator Tammy Duckworth and Senator Dan Sullivan of the US Senate Armed Services Committee and Senator Chris Coons of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee to #Taiwan today, to discuss #Taiwan-#US relations, regional security and other issues of mutual concern.

The three-hour visit, part of a larger tour of the #IndoPacific region, is the first overseas delegation to be organized by the Senate Armed Services Committee since the outbreak of the #COVID19 pandemic last year. The senators had to get up very early this morning to make their show of support for Taiwan happen and will return to South Korea immediately afterwards to catch their return flight home. While here they announced the donation of 750,000 vaccines to Taiwan.

What an exhilarating journey these past 50 years have been! Three factors got us here, PM Lee said;

1. Multi-racialism
2. Self-reliance and mutual support
3. Keeping faith between Government and people

The Mufti, Dr Nazirudin Nasir, wrote to me to express Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis)’s support for the Government’s deliberations on letting nurses wear the tudung. I replied to him, thanking Muis for their support.

On sensitive issues involving race and religion, our practice is to engage behind closed doors, so that we can all talk candidly and honestly, and understand the problem from different perspectives.

In Singapore we treat everyone equally, regardless of race, language or religion. We seek to build a national identity shared by all communities, while enabling every community to practise their own faith and way of life. Through mutual accommodation, compromise and trust building, we have succeeded in living harmoniously together.

As our society evolves, so too will social attitudes and norms. But any changes to the balance we have achieved must be carefully considered. Ultimately the changes must strengthen, not weaken, our racial and religious harmony.

I am grateful to Muis for their efforts to strengthen our social cohesion, and achieve progress for the Muslim society and all Singaporeans.

Mufti Negara, Dr Nazirudin Nasir, telah menulis kepada saya melahirkan sokongan terhadap perbincangan Pemerintah mengenai kemungkinan untuk membenarkan jururawat memakai tudung. Saya telah membalas surat beliau dan mengucapkan terima kasih atas sokongan Muis.

Bagi isu-isu sensitif yang menyentuh soal kaum dan agama, lazimnya, kita mengadakan perbincangan secara tertutup bersama anggota masyarakat dan juga pihak-pihak lain. Ini supaya kita semua boleh berkongsi pandangan dengan jujur dan terus terang, faham perspektif lain mengenai isu tersebut dan berbincang dari hati ke hati.

Di Singapura, kita berlaku adil kepada semua pihak tanpa mengira kaum, bahasa atau agama. Kita mahu membina identiti negara yang dikongsi oleh semua lapisan masyarakat, yang membolehkan setiap kaum mengamalkan cara hidup dan kepercayaan masing-masing. Dengan mengamalkan sikap bertolak ansur, saling menghormati dan mempercayai antara satu sama lain, kita telah berjaya menikmati kehidupan yang aman damai bersama.

Apabila negara kita berubah dan berkembang, begitu juga sikap dan norma masyarakat. Namun setiap perubahan yang kita lakukan mesti dipertimbangkan dengan teliti dan berhati-hati. Akhirnya, perubahan yang kita buat harus memperkukuh keharmonian kaum dan agama kita dan bukan melemahkannya.

Saya menghargai pelbagai usaha Muis untuk memperteguh perpaduan sosial kita demi mencapai kemajuan bagi masyarakat Islam setempat dan semua rakyat Singapura.

Pak Zaim is a good man who has been unjustly imprisoned. He is a leader in sharing knowledge of freedom and serving his community. I'm here sharing his story because he MUST BE FREED!

On the 2nd of February 2021 in Depok Indonesia, Police arrived at Pak Zaim's home and arrested him. The reason for his arrest is not very clear, but it has something to do with the Muamalat Markets he organised.

For the past 10 years, he has set up over 25 markets around Indonesia where people were able to trade following the same practices as the marketplaces during the time of the Rasul (saw). Completely Halal trade free of corruption. Free of riba!

Inside the markets, people were allowed to exchange items as they wished. Free trade. Barter trade. So long as there was mutual consent between both parties, the trade was allowed. And one of the prominent forms of trade, was with gold and silver coins. Dinar and Dirham.

Pak Zaim took it upon himself to mint coins to a standardized size and weight to facilitate trading within the market. These standards follow the same weight as the Dinar and Dirham used during the time of the Rasul (saw).

Nothing he was doing was illegal. The markets he set up were like any other Pasar you may see in Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia. He was not claiming to produce Rupiah or any other form of legal tender. He was simply giving his people a way to trade with Halal commodities.

If you'd like to know more, please do reach out. I want to do all we can to get him out. He's been there for a month already, but we need to show the Indonesian government that Pak Zaim is innocent of any charges against him. I testify for him!
