July 4 Night: #AmericaDayHomerun is a celebration of both America’s birthday and the U.S.-Taiwan shared love of baseball! Tonight, AIT provided an opportunity for Taiwan friends to experience some American baseball traditions, including a special rendition of the United States’ national anthem, video highlights featuring MLB players from Taiwan, a ceremonial pitch featuring Wang Chien-ming, Kuo Hong-chih and Liu Po-chun, mascots running competitions, MLB style cheerleading, and distribution of 1000 special edition t-shirts! AIT was honored to have many prominent Taiwan friends join us for this unprecedented celebration. Curious about today’s activities? Want to know who participated in this event? #美國日紅不讓「重量級嘉賓」是誰你猜到了嗎？沒錯！就是王建民和郭泓志！AIT很榮幸邀請到這兩位曾效力於美國職棒大聯盟的傳奇台灣球員，參加7月4日在台南市立棒球場「統一獅對中信兄弟」的比賽，為當天 #美國日紅不讓 的慶祝活動揭開序幕！台灣首位棒球女主審劉柏君也將擔任開球主審喔！😍

⚾️ Let’s celebrate America’s Birthday with #AmericaDayHomeRun at Tainan Baseball Stadium on July 4!⚾️

Did you correctly guess the two baseball player cutouts we posted on Monday? That’s right! AIT is honored to invite Wang Chien-Ming and Kuo Hong-Chih, two legendary Taiwan players who have played in Major League Baseball, to open the #AmericaDayHomerun festivities at Tainan Municipal Baseball Stadium on July 4 at the Uni Lions vs CTBC Brothers game! Hall of Fame Umpire Liu Po-Chun will be on the field to call the pitch a ball or a strike!

Taiwan has sent 16 players to the Major League since it was established in the 19th Century. Major League Baseball has enjoyed a rich, diverse, world-wide set of talent and it’s a remarkable achievement for athletes to play in the Major League. Who are your favorite Taiwanese MLB players?
