Welcome to Day 3 in Vietnam and a beautiful journey into the Marble Mountains of the city of Da Nang.

I've been hearing about the Marble Mountains of Vietnam since I landed here so it was obviously on the to do list. And seeing as my aunt and uncle had never been before, we thought it a grand opportunity to go as a team and conquer the mountains.
It was definitely a lot more than I expected. When you are walking through the caves and crevices, you almost forget that you are on the top of a mountain because there seems to be so much more around every corner.
I'd also never visited a Pagoda before, so it was quite lovely to see how beautifully constructed and how well maintained these ones were. Definitely worth a visit if you ever find your self in the Da Nang side of Vietnam.

The vlog begins at the foot of the Marble Mountains waiting for the rest of the tour group to arrive. We woke up at the crack of dawn to ensure we weren't late, but as it turned out, we were the first there and waited a good half an hour or more for everyone else.
We finally met our tour guide, a young Vietnamese chap who called himself SNAIL. He even spelled it out for us because most of us in the group were... LIke... HUH?! lol
Then it was up the thousands of stairs to reach the different areas of the mountain.
Snail taught us how the Buddhist people pray and how people often mistakenly put their hands together. We went to main pagoda and there were local Vietnamese people inside praying. Fascinating to see how other people worship.
We headed up a few more stairs to a tranquil courtyard with a tall temple over looking it. I thought this was the summit but BOY WAS I WRONG!
We hit another 3 or 4 viewing stations, temples, pagodas, caves and it was only after my aunt and I broke away from the group and decided to find the summit for ourselves that we actually GOT to the top of the mountain.
It was not easy. The path was narrow. Susana wanted to give up and I had to pep talk her every 20 or so steps... but she made it to the top of the Water Mountain of the Marble mountains! Muy bien!
When we got back down, Snail was not happy. woops.
He gave me a very unimpressed stare as I tried to brag about our accomplishment... but never the less... he cheered up a little while later.
We went off for food as that had been plaguing my mind for a good couple of hours. I forgot to vlog it but I had a vegetarian noodle dish. It was... edible. To say the least.
Then it was off to Monkey Mountain to see a 70 meter statue of the female Buddha and some breathtaking views from the courtyard of the statue.
And that is where our adventures on the Marble mountains came to an end.
