.
Jadi saya ni macam biasalah, suka take part in conversation walaupun tak kenal atau baru-baru kenal dengan orang.
.
“Never make fun of someone who speak broken English. It means they know another language”

I came across this interesting piece about how the Chinese language is changing in China. People are using English words in spoken and written Chinese directly, without translating them into Chinese equivalents, or even transliterating them into similar sounding Chinese characters. It is easier to say GDP than 国内生产总值, and Wifi is Wifi.
This is causing controversy in China. Some think it is the practical thing to do – everybody knows what Wifi is, so why invent some unfamiliar Chinese term for the same thing? But others feel that the pure Chinese language is being polluted with foreign words. After all, some translations have been successful – Coca Cola 可口可乐 has a very appropriate meaning, and translating email into 电邮 is neat and succinct.
The same thing is happening to other languages too. If you listen to Malay spoken in Malaysia, or Tamil in India, you will often hear English words mixed in.
The reality is that a language is a live, changing thing. It constantly absorbs words, concepts and usages from foreign languages, so long as people are using it in their daily lives. Otherwise it becomes a dead language, studied by scholars but not spoken by ordinary people anymore, like Latin or Sanskrit.
We pay a lot of attention to languages in Singapore. We are doing our utmost to keep our mother tongues alive. These are live languages to be used, so we should accept that they will evolve and change over time. We need to speak and write them correctly, but also colloquially. Then we will really be cool, or as we say in Mandarin, 酷! :)

Sixty years ago yesterday, 5 June 1959, the first cabinet after Singapore gained self-governing status was sworn in at City Hall.
Mr Lee Kuan Yew and his eight Ministers took their oaths of office wearing simple white shirts and trousers, no suits and ties. The former Governor and newly appointed Yang di Pertuan Negara, William Goode, officiated in a fawn-coloured suit, not the regalia of empire.
It was a signal that the times had changed. As Mr Lee declared at a huge rally at the Padang on 3 June, two nights earlier:
“Once in a long while in the history of a people, there comes a moment of great change. Tonight is such a moment in our lives ... We begin a new chapter in the history of Singapore.”
Governing would not be plain sailing. Mr Lee’s core team – which included Dr Goh Keng Swee, Dr Toh Chin Chye, Mr S Rajaratnam and Mr Ong Pang Boon – held, but the PAP was nearly defeated and perhaps even extinguished in the harsh and bitter struggles that followed.
First came the life-and-death battle against the communists and their supporters. Mr Lee had insisted that the British release eight left-wing detainees from Changi Prison before he would take office. Two years later, all but one of them split from the PAP to form the Barisan Sosialis.
After the Barisan lost the September 1962 Referendum and the General Election in 1963, we spent two years in Malaysia. Mr Lee and his key colleagues fought tenaciously for a multi-racial society, risking arrest or worse.
If Singaporeans of that generation – the Pioneer and Merdeka Generations – had not united behind the PAP’s leadership, Tunku Abdul Rahman would never have let Singapore leave Malaysia to become a sovereign independent country.
5 June 1959 was one of the milestones that made possible 9 August 1965, and all that followed over the next 54 years. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to this pride of lions who took office 60 years ago, and to the people they led.
Yesterday was Hari Raya Puasa, so this week’s Cabinet meeting was postponed till today. Today, we took a photograph of the 14th Cabinet before our meeting started (minus a few members who were overseas or not able to be there – Desmond Lee, Grace Fu, Iswaran, Maliki, and Ong Ye Kung) to mark the 60th anniversary of the historic swearing in of the first Cabinet.
As I told my colleagues, the fight continues. The dream of an ever better Singapore is alive and well. Our pledge to be one united people, regardless of race, language or religion, endures. – LHL

LYRICS of #SUPERGIRLS
Chorus
Aku bukan yang dulu
Yang terlalu mencuba
Kata apa kau mahu
Kita semua berbeza
Don't need to worry bout the things they say
You've got the power to stand up today
Yang kau perlukan dalam kehidupan hanyalah kekuatan
Dengarkan aku
Just take a look inside
Verse 1 Rap
Take a look inside we the beast and a hustler,
you be on the chase and yes I caught you out rustler.
It’s just me and my main ones you can tell we poppin, never choosin, never wastin time with you is not an option.
Independent women who I stand for.
I dont need no scrub, knock you down on the dance floor.
The world is at my fingers aint no telling where I can’t go.
Suited up for drama and I'm carrying the ammo.
Tidak pernah putus asa,
Hidup ini sementara,
Cita-cita dan impian datang bersama usaha,
Ku berjanji akan berjaya,
Berjaya,
Percayalah,
Pengorbanan hidup untuk berjuang bagi semua.
Prechorus
Got my girls
