May Day is usually a joyous occasion to celebrate the achievements of our workers and unions. But amidst COVID-19, this year’s event is more sombre.
May Day is an appropriate moment to thank our brothers and sisters, especially those on the front lines, and those performing essential services. You have kept Singapore going, and far exceeded the call of duty.
Our economy has taken a beating from the pandemic. The circuit breaker has been hard for everyone. Businesses and jobs have been disrupted. But we must hunker down, to stop the virus from spreading, so that we can progressively restart our economy.
Meanwhile, the government is working hard to support companies, and protect workers. We are implementing $60 billion in support measures, through the Unity, Resilience, and Solidarity Budgets.
Our forefathers had the foresight to put aside reserves for emergencies like this. We too have to keep an eye on the future, and work together to make sure Singapore emerges stronger from COVID-19.

"Hong Kong is not Hong Kong anymore, it is NAMED as Hong Kong only."
An Urgent Cry from Hong Kong
I am Agnes Chow, a member of Scholarism, a student activists organization from Hong Kong. I have an important message that I hope to spread to the world which is related to a bookseller who suddenly disappeared and had been abducted to Mainland.
A Hong Kong bookseller named Lee Bo who sold books criticizing the Communist Party of China and banned political books suddenly went missing weeks after four of his associates disappeared strangely. The Causeway Bay Bookstore, the bookstore established by Lee in 1994, is popular among mainland tourists as they can buy political books which are banned in their hometown.
On 30th December 2015, Lee was supposed to collect books from a warehouse at around 5:30pm. However, he was out of contact and could not be found even his wife arrived the warehouse, looking for him at 8:00pm. About 10:00, his wife received a call from her husband from Shenzhen. Lee used Mandarin unusually rather than Cantonese, and told his wife that he had temporarily gone back to cooperate with the investigation, ‘They want me to assist the investigation, if I cooperate, it may be alright." Lee called his wife again soon to notice her that "you may already know what's going on" and "don't make the news public”.
With the protection of the Sino-British Joint Declaration, Hongkongers are able to obtain personal safety and basic human rights under rule of law. Even some of the Hongkongers acted as dissidents to voice out their disagreement towards the Communist Party of China, they would not face penalties. Unlike the mainland China, Hong Kong did not adopt authoritarian governance. Citizens who sell politically sensitive books were not supposed to be suppressed by any threats of ‘disappearance’ and imprisonment with the existence of freedom of press and speech.
In the past, we were safe because we lived in Hong Kong instead of the mainland China. However, the circumstances have changed with the abduction which was suspected to be done by the police in China towards this bookseller who kept being low profile before. Lee’s wife has reported her husband’s missing to the Hong Kong Police Force but still no one could contact Lee since 4 days before. With no departure record of Lee, and his Home Return Permit Card is left at his home in Hong Kong, it can be speculated that the police from the mainland organized cross-border arrest to threaten people in Hong Kong. If the above speculation is true, it indicates the erosion of "one country, two system" in the Basic Law of Hong Kong.
The reason for me to film this video is to raise the global awareness of this serious issue happened in Hong Kong, and I hope that more and more foreign medias can keep their attention and coverage on this white terror incident. We feel that Hong Kong is not Hong Kong anymore, it is NAMED as Hong Kong only. The most worrying thing finally happened. This incident evoke me the famous statement written by Pastor Martin in the 1950s.
“First they came for the activists, and I did not speak out. Because I was not an activist. Then they came for the journalists, and I did not speak out. Because I was not a journalist. Then they came for the bookseller, and I did not speak out. Because I was not a bookseller. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.”
I hope everyone in the world who believes in universal values of freedom and human rights could stand up and speak for this incident to stop the political suppression.
Even I am also afraid of my personal safety after this incident happened, I still believe we should continuously fight for freedom from fear because it is an important core value that we should uphold . Let us stand up to show our discontent on this abduction and stop the further suppression to political dissidents in Hong Kong.

As an international superstar (laughter), even if useless, I would like to appeal to the international community (especially Japan) to pay attention to the situation in Hong Kong, even if it is useless, I hope to become a pressure of international opinion that can force the central government. (the following : Soko)
Many Hong Kong people are battling now to protect their homes ↓
We are seeking the government to withdraw the amendment of the ordinance of the ordinance that is going to be able to make a suspect in the mainland of China (the amendment of the fugitive ordinance).
It may be a lot of people who have seen it on the news, but on June 9th, 103 million (organizers announcement) stood up and demonstration was held (about 700 million Hong Kong population). In It 3 ~ 4 % of people participated in the demonstration for the first time. However, the government ignored the opinion and carried out the deliberation towards the passing of the amendment.
On June 12, many citizens stood up before the second deliberation and besieged the legislative assembly. It was a success to deter the second deliberation, and the second deliberation was cancelled, but it is not acceptable when the council will resume again.
Demonstrators and police squad collide, many injured from June 10th to present.
If this amendment passes (the government aims to be completed until mid-next month), the suspect will be able to deliver the suspect according to the request of the country and the region (including the mainland of China).
The Hong Kong government is trying to revise the ordinance using the support background of the Chinese lawmaker who occupies the majority.
It is said that the Hong Kong government will judge every case of crime in the case of extradition...
In recent years, China is going to go to Hong Kong... is it okay? No, it's not okay.
The top of Hong Kong, the election of the secretary of the administration, is the one who is the one who is the one who is the one
The Chinese government has lost a critical lawmaker, and it is also disabled to run again...
Hong Kong's autonomy, Democratic System, one country two system is about to be overthrown from the base.
There was an incident that the people of the causeway bay bookstore in Hong Kong, which used to deal with critical books in China, were taken by the Chinese authorities. You can say it's exactly the act of ignoring the Hong Kong law.
Nhk's press on mainland China has been shut down for a few seconds...
What can happen if this amendment goes through? People who say critical things to the Chinese government, people who do activities, are taken by the Chinese authorities, and they are judged by China's legislation.
Can you trust the Chinese law system???
I'm afraid I can't trust it as an individual opinion.
Freedom of speech in Hong Kong, freedom of expression, human rights are threatened. Hong Kong is gone in Hong Kong.
So it's the opposite.

I always try and be respectful when filming in China, I make sure to avoid any sensitive areas, don't film anything remotely to do with politics, or military or government, I film in open public places and film myself. But often I get suspicious old men calling security or the police on me, the police and security guards are always polite and professional and often simply just curious as to what I'm doing and once I explain that I'm shooting a video of myself to show my friends (you my subscribers) what China is really like, they often smile and tell me to continue, but it's not always the case and recently I've been getting a lot of trouble shooting my videos out in public here in China. There is a reason for this and I want to explain to you all why this is all of a sudden an issue, also I want to update you all on how the risks I've taken recently have paid off (or not) as some of you have been asking me to do a follow up on my Risk Failure video I shot over a year ago.

Hope you all love this video!
Only Allen Iverson could deliver a Hall of Fame speech that name-checked '90s rappers, referenced "Chappelle's Show" and thanked just about every person he met along his basketball journey. Only Shaquille O'Neal could follow that act with what amounted to a half-hour comedy routine that needled former coaches and teammates and included a soap-opera shout-out.
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's Class of 2016 lived up to its lofty billing with an epic three-hour induction ceremony Friday night at Springfield's Symphony Hall, with Iverson and O'Neal stealing the show.
Iverson delivered a captivating 31-minute speech in which he overcame initial jitters during a memorable address that featured multiple standing ovations. Fans with No. 3 Iverson jerseys in the balcony cheered throughout.
Dressed in a black suit with a black shirt and tie, Iverson paused repeatedly to collect himself at the start of his speech while thanking his three presenters -- Larry Brown, Julius Erving and John Thompson -- as well as members of his family.
Fighting tears throughout, Iverson thanked former Georgetown coach Thompson "for saving my life."
"[After] the incident happened in high school and all that was taken away ... no other schools would recruit me anymore," Iverson recalled, referencing a racial brawl at a bowling alley that landed him in jail. His conviction in the case was later overturned. "My mom went to Georgetown and begged [Thompson] to give me a chance. And he did."
He said he later left Georgetown only as "an OK basketball player."
"But once I started to listen to Larry Brown and take constructive criticism, I learned how much of a great, great coach that he really is. ... That's when I became an MVP," Iverson said.
In maybe the most memorable moment of his address, Iverson recalled his first time playing against his idol, Michael Jordan.
"Man, I wanted to be like Mike," Iverson said. "I remember the first time I played against him. I walked out on the court and I looked at him. And, for the first time in my life, a human being didn't really look real to me. You know what I mean? I don't know if you all watch the 'Chappelle Show,' but he talked about a certain incident where somebody's seeing Rick James. Like I literally seen his aura. It looked like he was glowing.
"I'm sitting there, and I'm saying, 'Man, that's Michael.' And I'm looking at him. I can't stop looking at him. I'm looking at his shoes, and I'm like, man, he's got on the Jordans! It was my Mike. It was my idol, my hero."
After the Jordan story, Iverson seemed to settle in. Nervously rocking at the start of his speech, he confidently thanked a Rolodex of coaches, owners, teammates and rappers.
"I want to thank Biggie Smalls, Redman, Jadakiss, Tupac and Michael Jackson for being my theme music throughout my career," Iverson said.
Twenty-two minutes into his speech, Iverson said, "The Philly fans," and that elicited a monster reaction from the balcony, which immediately engaged in an "MVP" chant.
Added Iverson: "My relationship with the fans in Philadelphia is like no other. I thank you all for the support over the years. ... You never jumped off the bandwagon, continued to support me like true fans are supposed to."
Iverson also paid tribute to "the ones that stuck by me throughout my journey." He cited "all the barbershop talk that my family had and all the arguments my friends had with people in the barbershop and hair salon.
"Now you can say: 'Well, look, my man is solidified.'"
Iverson closed his speech with a nod to the "guys who are not my friends anymore."
"I'm glad that you blew your cover for me to recognize that you [weren't] any good to my family or me. And I appreciate y'all for that. So if I make any more new friends, I know the signs," he said.
Not to be outdone, O'Neal took the stage for a punchline-filled speech as the final inductee of the night.
O'Neal referenced Luke and Laura from "General Hospital" and joked about his commercial endeavors, including how he sat in a "Buick I knew I couldn't fit in." Drawing laughter, O'Neal added, "Hey, they paid me $3 million. What did you want me to say, no?"
His speech had serious moments, like when he thanked his parents, Phil Harrison and Lucille O'Neal, for giving him the discipline and drive that drove his NBA dream.
"If I know my father, he's up there arguing with Wilt [Chamberlain] that his son is the best big man in the game," O'Neal said.
