Improvisation with Sambuca and Bendir Drum. Sambuca or Samviki is a chordophone instrument from ancient Greece (475-450 BC), used a turtle shell and a skin to create the soundboard. In the ancient pictures usually appears with a vertical bridge for the strings, resting on the skin. Both instruments in the video are built by Luthieros, song improvisation composed from YK Band (Yerko Lorca & Kuan Yin) . Interpretation performed at the Seikilo Museum, in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Improvisación con Sambuca y tambor Bendir. Sambuca o Samviki es un instrumento cordófono de la antigua Grecia (475-450 a. C.) , hecho de un caparazón de una tortuga y una piel para crear la caja de resonancia. Aunque en imágenes suele aparecer con un puente vertical para las cuerdas, que se asienta en la piel. Ambos instrumentos en el video son construidos por Luthieros, canción improvisada y compuesta por YK Band (Yerko Lorca & Kuan Yin). Interpretación realizada en el Museo de Seikilo, en Salónica, Grecia.

The turtle 🐢 is a reptile (sauropsida) emanates respect and tranquility. Perhaps why our ancestors represent it in so many stories as the figure of the wise man and a symbol of good luck for a long life. Formerly the Lyres Chelis stile (turtle shell) in the ancient Greece, also named in mythology. Hermes being its creator and then giving it to his brother Apollo. They were made of a tortoise shell and goatskin for the soundboard. In addition to using horns for the necks, a bone crossbar and gut strings. Luckily for these animals, the lyre became extinct and although there are now a few fans of this instrument, today Nikolaos Brass is one of the few Luthiers who make the ancient Greek lyre with a carved wooden turtle shell. Certainly a laborious job. Or Luthieros who also make with plastic molds.
