Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr Ameerali Rajabali Jumabhoy on Tuesday morning.
Mr Ameerali lived a full life, and was a well-loved pillar of the community. As one of Singapore’s Pioneers and a prominent businessman, he helped to build Scotts Shopping Centre and redevelop Lau Pa Sat.
He was also committed to public service, serving as chairman of Mendaki Holdings, Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis), the National Crime Prevention Council Singapore as well as on the founding board of Singapore Polytechnic and the National Heritage Board. He also led the rebuilding of Kassim Mosque in Changi.
