"KLSCM VR 10KM"
This morning we (@saddampittli and I) went to Saujana there to do our KLSCM VR 10KM. We arrived there pretty late at around 7.40am. Quickly went to do our warm up and we were so glad to see our Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul and his friend were there as well.
So we went and greet him and also took a photo with him before we start. Then we proceed to warm up. Drills, and then followed with Striding.
We started at 8.02am in the morning. We were so glad the weather was still good at that moment.
Started off with the minimum goal to hit a sub 37 at least and hopefully to clock a sub 35 if body react good on that time. To be honest my weekly mileage for this week is only 39.9km including the 10km this morning.
We then ran together from where we parked the car. First 2 km was good. Splits: 3:22.7 | 3:27.6 min/km
Felt great and continue to maintain the same effort. Eventually, we started to slow down and result in 3:37.4 | 3:33.4 min/km.
Then automatically the brain calculated the overall pace and the average pace is still in 3:30 min/km but can feel that the tiredness of the body kicks in. Both legs were unable to maintain the similar effort.
Clocked first 5km at 17:36 min (3:35.2 min - 5th km).
Then from 6th km onwards, body wasn't allow me to go at the same pace, but I tried my best to still maintain it even if is slightly slower. Clocked the coming 2km at a time of 3:42.0 | 3:39.0 min/km.
The last 3 km were really tough! Mentally kept counting down to finish it and I knew that I still got about 10 min more to run. Keep grinding and digging deep. Clocked the coming 2km at 3:40.9 | 3:38.2 min/km.
Then when come to the last km, I was doing my best, squeezing out every inch of the energy left in the tank, to push the last km. But too bad there wasn't anything left and I could only do a 3:34.2 min/km.
Ended up with a time of 35:50.4 min for the 10km. I am still really glad to be able to run a sub 36 at least given that I only have like 2 weeks plus to prepare for this as I attempted the Guinness World Records on the 18th Nov.
Also thankful to have @saddampittli pace me for the first few km and pace me the last 2k
