I wanted to write this ever since I learned of your accident. But it's been hard to put to words precisely what I want to say.
I first discovered your channel at what I would call the low point of my life. I had just a few weeks earlier broken up with my first love, a girl who I had transferred colleges to be near. I was crushed. I didn't want to die, but I did want to crawl down a hole in the universe, where time stopped and I could come to grips with everything. I was completely alone and depressed. I gained a lot of weight and languished at home all day.
But during that time I discovered your channel. Your wry sense of humor and unimpeachable honesty struck a chord with me immediately (I still laugh when I think about a story you told in one of your private series about your gf asking for it "in the butt." I died of laughter haha). At the time (2010) I watched all 400 of your videos and looked forward to the new one each night with the kind of excitement due a network drama.
I loved your videos because they were funny, contentious, beautiful, and exciting. You provided me a sense of escape from the pain I was experiencing. For that, I am eternally grateful.
In the years since, I've watched your channel less and less. Not because I stopped enjoying it but because life sped up and I found that I was finally coming out of the hole I'd crawled down. What has stayed with me though are my memories of you and your channel. They will always stay with me. I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I know you've got a mountainous struggle before you, one steeper than any I've encountered. But if it helps, you should know that you meant a lot to someone at a time they really needed a friend. I will always remember that. No matter what.
