【玳瑚師父玄學論】 《妳你的姓,妳你的名》
The Surname & Name of Yours (English version below)

That day at the Tea Session, just before everyone was about to leave, an affinity arose and I wielded my pen to demonstrate the rarely seen Art of the Name Level 3. They were amazed and benefited immensely. Alas, as they expressed their amazement, I felt sorry that many people still do not understand the importance and intension of a name. Therefore, I shall now impart to everyone another knowledge level behind the Art of the Name.
Take for example, there are 3 persons who choose a name for their children. However, they are not versed in the art of name selection and as a result, bring harm to their children. Besides setting up obstacles for their children's lives, the children are made the brunt of many cruel jokes. These 3 persons has the surname of "Ma", "Mai" and "Ni" respectively, and they unknowingly gave the following names to their children:
馬必清 Ma Bi Qing
麥仙 Mai Xian
倪友賓 Ni You Bing
As the name implies, Mr Ma aspires his son to be a clean-handed person, while Mr Mai hopes for his daughter to be as happy and elegant like a fairy. Mr Ni wishes for his son to treat all his friends like honoured guests and be happy and safe always. However, their good intentions turned out to be crude jokes made on their children. How pitiful!
The son with the name "馬必清 Ma Bi Qing" has similar pronunciation as "馬屁精 Ma Pi Jing" which means a bootlicker. He subsequently became the most unpopular person at work. The daughter with the name "麥仙 Mai Xian" has a name that sounds like "Mai Xian" in Hokkien which means not to brag. This causes her to be misunderstood as a braggart. The son with the name "倪友賓 Ni You Bing" is no better off either. His name sounds like you are ill. That causes people around him to avoid him like a plague. How pathetic!
Without me saying, everyone should know by now that in choosing a name, you ought to take note of the meaning and pronunciation of a character, so as not to let your children hang their heads in shame.

刚刚又有顾客突然问起,为何起个那么怪的品牌名称。【哈咪豆】。您也想知道吗? 让我把陈旧的老贴再分享一次!
Customer questioned. Why we called ourselves [HamiDouRoll]? Curious? Let me share again our story!
HamiDouRoll~ Our story
The lobak business was founded by my parents in year 1992. In the beginning, it had no brand name, but its doing quite well. A lot of loyal customers keep buying repeatedly.
I consider myself a happy little women for the past 30 over years. However, personal crisis hit me out of sudden. Due to family problems, i divorced and at the same time i lost my work. Divorced and jobless take away all my beliefs and hopes. At that time, i feel so ambiguity and hopeless, and some more had two small kids to take care. My parents feeling so bad for seeing me like that. Thus, they offer me to take over their business since they are ready to retired. For living and for my kids, i telling myself, i have to be strong. I decided to take up the offer.
I realize that business can't go further if without a brand name, thus I trying to get one. While i'm brainstorming about the brand name, my kid who is 5years old at that time standing beside me. Out of sudden, something come out from his mouth. He said: "family lost liao, work lost liao. Hami pun boh liao. Since nothing we have now, we need {hami doulou}."
*Hami in Hokkien means what.
*Doulou in Cantonese means something like all doing.
His quote impressed me a lot. I can't imagine a young boy like him also know to say this kind of sentence. He is trying to motivate me to keep stronger and keep moving forward for living. So i decided to use what he said as brand. I trying to get the "nearest pronunciation" word to make the brand meaning come closer to what i'm doing and selling. Since then, HamiDou Roll become the brand name i use till now.
* Many people who don't know, they thought that it's a Japanese name. :P
To me, HamiDouRoll is not just a brand, but also my Motto in life!

Char kway teow, literally "stir-fried ricecake strips", is a popular noodle dish in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia. The dish is considered a national favourite in Malaysia and Singapore.
It is made from flat rice noodles (河粉 hé fěn in Chinese) or kway teow (粿条 guǒ tiáo in Chinese) of approximately 1 cm or (in the north of Malaysia) about 0.5 cm in width, stir-fried over very high heat with light and dark soy sauce, chilli, a small quantity of belachan, whole prawns, deshelled blood cockles, bean sprouts and chopped Chinese chives. The dish is commonly stir-fried with egg, slices of Chinese sausage, fishcake, beansprouts, and less commonly with other ingredients. Char kway teow is traditionally stir-fried in pork fat, with crisp croutons of pork lard. In Penang, Char kway teow is commonly served on a piece of banana leaf on a plate, so as to enhance the aroma on the noodles.
The term "char kway teow" is a transliteration of the Chinese characters 炒粿條 (in simplified Chinese 炒粿条), Teochew origin and also pronounced chhá-kóe-tiâu? in Min Nan (also known as Teochew or Hokkien). The word kóe-tiâu (literally meaning "ricecake strips") generally refers to flat rice noodles, which are the usual ingredient in West Malaysia and Singapore. In East Malaysia, on the other hand, actual sliced ricecake strips are used to make this dish.
Owing to the dish's popularity and spread to Cantonese-speaking areas, the term "char kway teow" has been corrupted into "炒貴刁" in Cantonese. The term "貴 刁" has no real meaning, but its pronunciation in Cantonese and Mandarin is similar to "粿條" in Min Nan.
In Hong Kong, "char kway teow" is often known as "Penang char kway teow" (檳城炒粿條 or 檳城炒貴刁)
