This was how we got married.
Me in a casual dress and slip on heels. Him in a half buttoned shirt, capris and flip flops. In a chalet which we had decorated with hundreds of origami cranes, a DIY photo gallery of our love story and couple travels, lots of seaside posters all around, dozens of glass bottles filled with seashells, origami stars, love quotes and our pictures, thank you notes on a caricature of us inside test tubes filled with glow-in-the-dark sand as wedding favours, flower petals that lined our wedding aisle, a 3D Eiffel tower puzzle - the place where we got engaged - as our ringholder, a hand painted banner saying "L'amour Voyage, Xav & Summ".
This was our fairytale wedding and a dream come true for me. It wasn't easy planning for it because the hubby was already posted to Sweden a year before that, so I kind of had to do everything and my friends even told me to consider becoming a wedding planner. Surprisingly, our casual yet creative themed wedding was a hit, left behind good memories in all of us and even got featured in the papers and magazines after that.
We marched down as the song "From This Moment" played, I remember the hubby saying he liked the song "背叛 (Betrayal)" by Gary Cao but surely that wouldn't be so befitting for such a romantic occasion, right? Haha. We didn't say our own vows but exchanged rings after saying all the "Yes, I Do"s in front of dozens of family members and friends. Soon after all the phototaking, feasting and chatting, the partying began! We danced, we drank, we laughed with our friends and family and got pretty drunk that night. Well, the good thing we were in a chalet and had beds to sleep in.
That was surely a day I will remember forever and it makes me smile whenever those memories come back to me. It hasn't been a totally smooth sailing ride but we've made it through 11 years and counting, along with our three happily ever afters.

P.S. Looking forward to watching Avengers this weekend with the kiddos and let's see if we can make our plans of going on a couple supper date come true.
