Olympic is the ultimate sporting event for every athlete. My first Olympics 2004, 22 years of age, represented Malaysia in singles, together with Roslin and Choong Hann. I was lucky as it was held in Athens, the birth place of Olympics. It was like no other tournaments I entered before. I realised it’s no longer about me, but 30 million Malaysians back home. The euphoria, indescribable.
No I didn’t get to face top seed Lin Dan. He lost in the first round. I couldn’t get past Cheng Hong in the second round. Taufik took the Gold with his insane performance.
Since then, I think all knew what happened. 3 Olympic Silvers. There it goes, 16 years of my life. I still remember every match I played. It all feels like just yesterday.

Side story: Weeks after coming back from Rio 2016, I had a teh tarik session with my media buddy. He said “Takpe la Chong Wei, jangan sedih. You tau tak you atlit international yang pegang olimpik perak paling banyak dalam sejarah olympik!” My heart smiled a bit and quickly googled and check the fact when I return home, thinking at least something right? Cheh! Kena kencing. Top ten pon tidak! Kene monopolized by gymnast and swimming kaki.
披上辉煌条纹征战奥运的这些年，你们在电视机前给我的加油欢呼，在我每颗球落下的激动，对我再一次没能站在最高领奖台上的感慨，我都感听到都感受到。4届奥运3面银牌，照片中你们一眼就看完我有血有泪的12年人生；而我也尽力了，无愧我最爱的羽毛球运动。🏸

Working hard is very important. More importantly, the support system. A talent, an athlete without support goes to waste. In Malaysia we were lucky to have those Majlis Sukan Sekolah Daerah events up to Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia tournaments. Then we have the Kem Tunas Cemerlangs, also the BAM sponsored state tournaments. Only through these events, gems are polished and winners are born.
Badminton was my whole life, and it will continue to be.
Lee Chong Wei Foundation decided to contribute 1.4 million Ringgit to BAM and 600k Ringgit to MSN. Hopefully with this little contribution, another batch of winners will be found. We had our finger tips on the Olympic Gold. I believe, it will be ours very very soon. My dreams, are in your hands :)
Majulah Sukan untuk Negara!
Saya rasa amat bertuah sebab selama ini sentiasa disokong BAM dan Majlis Sukan Negara dalam kerjaya sukan saya. Tanpa derang, tiadalah Chong Wei dan jaguh-jaguh Badminton lain.
Sistem Sukan Negara MSSD, MSSM, kejohanan negeri dan kem-kem sukan, terlahirnya jaguh demi jaguh, daripada Misbun ke Rashid, dari Ewe Hock ke Hock Kin, dari Roslin ke Hafiz dan selepas itu Choong Hann dan saya.
Hari ini saya berharap untuk membalas jasa dua induk, BAM dan MSN melalui sumbangan berjumlah RM 2 juta. Harapan saya, jangan biar aliran jaguh Badminton Malaysia terputus.
Saya sayang Malaysia, saya sayang Badminton Malaysia. Saya percaya, impian saya, pingat Emas Olympic, akan dicapai tidak lama lagi. 💪

很多人问我，退役之后还有什么梦想？我说，虽然我已经没有在前线冲锋陷阵了，但我依旧想为羽坛做些什么；虽然我没有在奥运拿到金牌，但我很希望其他运动员能在2020年奥运会，甚至未来为我实现这个梦想。
只是，国家要栽培出一位杰出的运动员并不是靠运气，而是需要投入大量的时间和金钱才行。
我退役后立马决定，从”李宗伟基金会”拨出140万令吉捐献给大马羽总BAM，另外再拨60万令吉捐献给国家体育理事会MSN，希望这个回馈能帮助马来西亚体育界有更好的发展，更希望能栽培出新一代的“体坛大马之光”！
我也呼吁企业能一起加入赞助的行列，一起发掘有潜能的新一代体坛精英。
我退役至今，没事就跟朋友爬山呼吸新鲜空气，10月是国家运动会月，我也早起跟大伙儿一起运动保持身心灵健康。常言道：多运动没事，没事的话，就请多运动吧！
