แต่กลับกัน สุนัขที่ไม่มีบ้าน ต้องใช้ชีวิตอยู่อย่างยากลำบากนั้นไม่เคยได้รับความรู้สึกนี้เลย ...เขาไม่เคยถูก ' โอบกอด ' มาก่อน

จะเกิดอะไรขึ้น ...เมื่อสุนัขจรจัด ได้รับการ
'กอดครั้งแรก' ?

ผมได้เข้าไปพูดคุยเจรจา ทั้งภาษาพูดและภาษากายกับสุนัขจรจัด ทำความรู้จักกับเขา บางตัวเห่า บางตัวกลัว บางตัวเป็นมิตร ...และสุดท้ายผมก็ได้โอบกอดพวกเขาทีละตัว

สิ่งที่ผมได้รับคือบางตัวนั้นงุนงงว่านี่คือการทำอะไร แต่เขาก็ยินยอมให้กอด บางตัวชอบมากจนเคลิ้ม บางตัวพยายามให้ผมเข้าไปกอดเขาซ้ำ หรือบางตัวถึงกับทิ้งตัวลงนอนเหมือนจะบอกเป็นนัยๆว่า ‘ กอดฉันนาน ๆ อีกได้ไหม ’

...นี่คือความอบอุ่นที่พวกเขาไม่เคยรู้จักมาก่อนเลยทั้งชีวิต ...เช่นเดียวกันกับที่ทั้งชีวิตของพวกเขาไม่เคยมีที่อยู่อาศัย

' The First Hug ' เป็นโปรเจคที่เราได้ทดลองขึ้น เพื่อประชาสัมพันธ์โครงการที่ดีมาก และกำลังจะมอบ 'ความอบอุ่น, ความสุข, ความมั่นคง' ให้กับสุนัขไร้บ้านอย่างแท้จริง

โดยการไปปลูกสร้างโรงเรือนให้กับสุนัขได้อยู่อาศัย ในโครงการ I AM GREEN HEART โดยปูนอินทรี ณ บ้านแสงตะวัน จ.นครปฐม ในวันที่ 17 ธันวาคม 2559 นี้ครับ

Today would have been my mother’s 100th birthday. I wonder what she would have thought of this extraordinary year. She grew up in pre-war colonial Singapore, and lived through much – the Japanese Occupation, the struggle for independence, Merger and Separation, and nearly half a century of nation building and steady progress. I think she would have taken 2020 in her stride.
I reread my eulogy for her funeral service back in October 2010 (https://go.gov.sg/eulogyoct10). As she told me: “The older I get, the longer ago the things I remember”. Ten years on, the grief has faded, and Mama is remembered with warm and happy memories by all her loved ones. – LHL
