Visited the Ministry of Health, Singapore COVID-19 Case Management Task Group (CMTG) Operations Office yesterday. They administer the whole process for COVID-19 patients, from detection to recovery. This includes assigning patients to appropriate care facilities, arranging for transport, and briefing them on what they need to do, especially those who choose Home Recovery.
We now encourage fully vaccinated patients to recover at home wherever possible. This is less disruptive for them, especially if their symptoms are mild. It will also reduce demand for hospital beds, so that the seriously ill ones can get the treatment they need.
I know this is a stressful time for those with family members who have COVID-19. Some of you have written to me to express your frustrations, or question why MOH takes so long to get in touch after you or a loved one has tested positive.
The CMTG have a very demanding task. They operate 24/7 in a rapidly changing situation. Case numbers are still growing, and we are doing our best to scale up our operations, and make sure all patients are well cared for.
I would like to thank the CMTG for their dedication and tireless efforts. If we all work together, get vaccinated, and wear our masks properly, we can slow down the current wave, and get through safely without overwhelming our hospitals or suffering unnecessary casualties. – LHL

The Multi-Ministry Taskforce announced new measures today to deal with the sharp increase in cases, and help us get safely to being a COVID-19 resilient nation.
First, we are protecting the capacity of our healthcare system.
Second, we are ramping up our operations to support fully vaccinated COVID-19 cases who recover at home. SAF is supporting MOH in home recovery operations.
Third, we are supporting businesses who are affected by the new restrictions.
The new Community Treatment Facilities (CTF) will provide closer monitoring and management of stable patients with co-morbidities and who are otherwise asymptomatic or have no symptoms. By placing more COVID-19 patients in the CTFs, we will free up hospital beds for more serious cases.
The new measures will give us more time to deliver booster shots to people, and vaccinate those still not vaccinated. Meanwhile, we are also expanding our hospital capacity. This will ensure that our healthcare system is not overwhelmed and can continue to take good care of all those who need medical care, whether for COVID-19 or other conditions.
We have to adapt our response to COVID-19 as the pandemic develops. I know the changes can be confusing and unsettling, but please bear with us. We will work closely with you to protect all our families. – LHL

Hello Youtube family,
I'm a little nervous about posting today's video. I'm sorry it's not the usual chirpy type of vlog. Originally, the footage wasn't supposed to be up so early but life never goes the way we plan right?
It’s been a bit of an emotional week. Due to a missed period, I took a pregnancy test on 8th October to find out we were expecting again. Just to be sure, I sent Tim out to get more tests to be sure. Since he came back with a two-pack, I took another test and it came back positive again. With one spare, I took the other test the next day but it came back negative (note- it wasn’t morning urine). Confused- I sent the hubby to grab more. This time, he came back with a triple pack. The next test was a big fat positive. After the initial confusion, we realised we really wanted this baby and thought maybe this baby was truly meant to be.
At the same time, Tim and I didn’t want to think too much. It was very early so we knew anything could happen since 1 in 5 pregnancies end up in a miscarriage. However, it didn’t stop us from thinking of baby names and envisioning our life as a family of four.
During my photoshoot in London, I felt lightheaded and my stomach pains started to feel more intense. I thought maybe I was just over fatigued so didn’t want to worry myself too much. As I was waiting for my flight back home, I felt pressure in my lower region. I stumbled to the bathroom and realised I was bleeding. Rather than the dark brown spotting I had days ago, it was a brighter colour of red indicating fresh blood. The bleeding eventually stopped for a bit so I felt more assured but as I got out of the airplane, I felt the bleeding started to return. Since I was emotionally and physically tired from the long day, I went to to bed early with hopes that rest could maybe prevent the worse from happening. Around 6am, I woke up to more stomach pains and pressure as I went to use the bathroom, I finally accepted I was having a miscarriage.
I knew my body wasn’t in it’s best condition so in a lot of ways, I wonder if it could’ve been prevented. It’s been an emotional few days. I spent it doing some grieving and I feel a lot better now. Since I was less than 5 weeks along, I’m thankful the loss happened early. To those who have also experienced a loss, I am so so sorry and my heart is with you. Know that you are not alone. We can only try to understand that everything happens for a reason. I hope you can take comfort in your family and friends.
It made me thankful to know Isaac was born into the world safely with no complications. I know Tim and I are still young and we have more opportunities in the future to expand our family.
We were not ready for another baby and the pregnancy was definitely a shock but our early loss has made us realise that if we are blessed to get pregnant again in the future, we would be ready and happy for it.
Physically, my body doesn’t feel too bad. It just felt like I was having a very heavy period. Usually my flow finishes in 4-5 days but my womb completely cleared within 2 days. Still experiencing a little nausea and cramping but I’m getting lots of cuddles from the family. Chubbi and Domo make fantastic hot water bottles too.
Even though it was an early miscarriage, I think I was a more upset about it than I thought I would be. I wasn’t as excited as I was with my first pregnancy and it was because I was overwhelmed since I knew what to expect. Once I started to embrace the changes about to come our way, I was able to connect with my pregnancy with excitement. Unfortunately, by then- the pregnancy couldn't progress.
Tim has reminded me that I could’ve been perfectly healthy and careful and yet sometimes, these things will just happen. We still feel incredibly blessed for our family already. We will leave it all to the Lord. He has been taking care of our family and we know everything happens for a reason. We know other people out there have had it way worse. Our situation is nothing in comparison. We are always going to be thankful ^_^

Hello YT Family,
Today’s Vlog:
Baby's first flight,
Home for Christmas!
Blaming farts,
SAD,
Circle of life.
After 14.5 hours of flying, we've landed safely to Northern Ireland. Thank you everyone for your safety prayers. We needed a whole day to settle down. Isaac was awfully jet lagged so it took him a little bit to get used to the 8 hour time difference. We've enjoying cosy family time. Feeling super blessed. I hope you guys are well!! We're looking forward to sharing our time back home with you guys! Missing Chubbi & Domo though sob sob..

Kenting (墾丁, pronounced Ken-ding) is a popular holiday destination in Taiwan for tourists and locals. Come with us on a day trip to this beautiful place - there's lots more waiting for you here in Kenting!
HOW TO GET TO KENTING (FROM KAOHSIUNG):
FROM ZUOYING: The Kenting Express Bus leaves from Zuoying station (which contains both the high speed rail station and MRT station) and takes approximately 2.5 hours to reach Kenting Main Street. You can buy tickets from the Kenting Express Booth at the station (at the top of the escalators just outside the High Speed Rail Station) or you can buy tickets online here (http://ticket.fun2tw.com/Login.aspx). I recommend buying in advance for weekends, holidays and in peak season (July/August school holidays). The cost is nt300 per person, one way. The website is in Chinese but if you use the Chrome browser your phone/computer should automatically translate the pages - enough to figure out what you are doing. The bus has free wifi and USB charging ports.
FROM THE AIRPORT: There are also buses that leave from the Kaohsiung airport (also known as Xiaogang airport). You can only buy these tickets at the airport. There's a timetable here: http://www.ptbus.com.tw/09/%E8%87%A8918.htm. You'll notice the destination on the website reads "Xiaowan" - this beach is right next to Kenting main street.
FROM KAOHSIUNG TRAIN STATION: Buses also leave from Kaohsiung Main Station although the pickup point is not clearly signposted - it's behind the MRT station. At time of writing (April 2018) the Kaohsiung main station is under heavy construction and I would recommend just catching the MRT to Zuoying instead rather than trying to find the bus amongst the chaos!
Beware of taxi drivers convincing you to ride with them - the fare is never cheaper than the bus, they will make you wait until their taxi is full of passengers, and the ride will definitely be less comfortable. It's definitely best to ignore them and get on the bus!
What to do in Kenting
There's quite a lot to do in Kenting, Taiwan - but it might be a bit different from the beach holidays you are used to. You can:
Relax on the beach - get a beer at the beach bar at Xiaowan (https://goo.gl/maps/FexLoksFvjE2), find shelter under a crag - and if you have kids watch them play safely in the little stream that connects the river to the sea. There are also a range of water sports available here,
Browse the night market (https://goo.gl/maps/xE3cZZa5td52) - this starts at sundown and is reportedly the longest in Taiwan. My personal favourite snacks here are the fried milk and the banana pancake.
Visit the Aquarium (https://goo.gl/maps/uAuFRB7srd92) - I haven't done this yet but it's apparently a very good aquarium (just be aware that it's a bit outside Kenting, perhaps pair it with a day trip to Hengchun town),
Wander around Hengchun old town (perhaps start at Hengchun south gate (https://goo.gl/maps/eTMnSE2npC72) and work towards Hengchun old street),
Swim at Nanwan beach (https://goo.gl/maps/xbYP23YZ9AB2) - this beach is my personal favourite for swimming and it's also good for collecting shells and sea glass.
Learn to surf with Afei (who also runs a bed and breakfast): https://goo.gl/maps/tT7GEq363Xt
Enjoy a meal at Bossa Nova (https://goo.gl/maps/g1t4G8xekv52) run by a lovely Taiwanese family and their French daughter-in-law,
See fire coming out of the ground at Chuhuo natural gas spring (https://goo.gl/maps/Lncfvr5UVLs)
Bird watch at Longluantan (https://goo.gl/maps/kCtguhsi6Xk)
Eat sushi and ride in a glass bottom boat at Houbihu (https://goo.gl/maps/ZYbn5wKPMx12)
Snap a selfie at the southernmost point of Taiwan (https://goo.gl/maps/KTo14HuZc6E2)
Check out Sail Rock, a huge coral reef rock that apparently looks like President Nixon (https://goo.gl/maps/ZFLiC3Z9sf22)
How to get around Kenting
Hire an electric scooter - for nt600 per day you can hire a scooter to get around. There are many scooter hire stores on Kenting main street. No licence is needed but you do need your passport.
Catch the shuttle bus - a whole day ticket is nt150 and you can buy it on the bus - just say ONE DAY PASS clearly and they will understand. Map and timetable can be found here (http://www.ptbus.com.tw/03/0302a.htm), all in Chinese unfortunately. Alternatively, you can just pay with change as you go. The downside is that the buses don't come very often and the stops aren't that easy to find.
Taxi - being a holiday area, taxis often do not run the meter but will rather negotiate a fare with you up front. Taiwanese taxi drivers are generally not out to rip you off but you will definitely pay more than in other cities in Taiwan (if you are a westerner you will likely still think the price is very cheap compared to home). In return, you will ride in air conditioning!
